Verse 5

(but if a man knoweth not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)

1 Sam 3:13 : 13 For I have told him that I will judge his house for ever, for the iniquity which he knew, because his sons did bring a curse upon themselves, and he restrained them not.
1 Tim 3:15 : 15 but if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how men ought to behave themselves in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
1 Sam 2:29-30 : 29 Wherefore kick ye at my sacrifice and at mine offering, which I have commanded in [my] habitation, and honorest thy sons above me, to make yourselves fat with the chiefest of all the offerings of Israel my people? 30 Therefore Jehovah, the God of Israel, saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now Jehovah saith, Be it far from me; for them that honor me I will honor, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.
Acts 20:28 : 28 Take heed unto yourselves, and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit hath made you bishops, to feed the church of the Lord which he purchased with his own blood.
1 Cor 10:32 : 32 Give no occasions of stumbling, either to Jews, or to Greeks, or to the church of God:
Eph 1:22 : 22 and he put all things in subjection under his feet, and gave him to be head over all things to the church,
Eph 5:24 : 24 But as the church is subject to Christ, so [let] the wives also [be] to their husbands in everything.
