For to him that is joined with all the living there is hope; for a living dog is better than a dead lion.

Job 14:7-9 : 7 For there is hope of a tree, If it be cut down, that it will sprout again, And that the tender branch thereof will not cease. 8 Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, And the stock thereof die in the ground; 9 Yet through the scent of water it will bud, And put forth boughs like a plant. 10 But man dieth, and is laid low: Yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he? 11 [ As] the waters fail from the sea, And the river wasteth and drieth up; 12 So man lieth down and riseth not: Till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, Nor be roused out of their sleep.
Job 27:8 : 8 For what is the hope of the godless, though he get him gain, When God taketh away his soul?
Isa 38:18 : 18 For Sheol cannot praise thee, death cannot celebrate thee: They that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth.
Lam 3:21-22 : 21 This I recall to my mind; therefore have I hope. 22 [ It is of] Jehovah's lovingkindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
Luke 16:26-29 : 26 And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, that they that would pass from hence to you may not be able, and that none may cross over from thence to us. 27 And he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house; 28 for I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. 29 But Abraham saith, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
