and he called{H7121} it Nehushtan.{H5180} 5 He trusted{H982} in Jehovah,{H3068} the God{H430} of Israel;{H3478} so that after{H310} him was none like him among all the kings{H4428} of Judah,{H3063} nor [among them] that were before{H6440} him. 6 For he clave{H1692} to Jehovah;{H3068} he departed{H5493} not from following{H310} him, but kept{H8104} his commandments,{H4687} which Jehovah{H3068} commanded{H6680} Moses.{H4872} 7 And Jehovah{H3068} was with him; of Israel.{H3478} 4 And he sacrificed{H2076} and burnt incense{H6999} in the high places,{H1116} and on the hills,{H1389} and under every green{H7488} tree.{H6086} 5 Wherefore Jehovah{H3068} his God{H430} delivered{H5414} him into the hand{H3027} of the king{H4428} of Syria;{H758} and they smote{H5221} him, and carried away{H7617} of his a great multitude{H1419} of captives,{H7633} and brought{H935} them to Damascus.{H1834} And he was also delivered{H5414} into the hand{H3027} of the king{H4428} of Israel,{H3478} who smote{H5221} him with a great{H1419} slaughter.{H4347} 6 For Pekah{H6492} the son{H1121} of Remaliah{H7425} slew{H2026} in Judah{H3063} a hundred{H3967} and twenty{H6242} thousand{H505} in one{H259} day,{H3117} all of them valiant{H2428} men;{H1121} because they had forsaken{H5800} Jehovah,{H3068} the God{H430} of their fathers.{H1} 7 And Zichri,{H2147} a mighty man{H1368} of Ephraim,{H669} slew{H2026} Maaseiah{H4641} the king's{H4428} son,{H1121} and Azrikam{H5840} the ruler{H5057} of the house,{H1004} and Elkanah{H511} that was next{H4932} to the king.{H4428} 8 And the children{H1121} of Israel{H3478} carried away captive{H7617} of their brethren{H251} two hundred{H3967} thousand,{H505} women,{H802} sons,{H1121} and daughters,{H1323} and took also away{H962} much{H7227} spoil{H7998} from them, and brought{H935} the spoil{H7998} to Samaria.{H8111} 9 But a prophet{H5030} of Jehovah{H3068} was there, whose name{H8034} was Oded:{H5752} and he went out{H3318} to meet{H6440} the host{H6635} that came{H935} to Samaria,{H8111} and said{H559} unto them, Behold, because Jehovah,{H3068} the God{H430} of your fathers,{H1} was wroth{H2534} with Judah,{H3063} he hath delivered{H5414} them into your hand,{H3027} and ye have slain{H2026} them in a rage{H2197} which hath reached up{H5060} to heaven.{H8064} 10 And now ye purpose{H559} to keep under{H3533} the children{H1121} of Judah{H3063} and Jerusalem{H3389} for bondmen{H5650} and bondwomen{H8198} unto you: [but] are there not even{H7535} with you trespasses{H819} of your own against Jehovah{H3068} your God?{H430} 11 Now hear{H8085} me therefore, and send{H7725} back the captives,{H7633} that ye have taken captive{H7617} of your brethren;{H251} for the fierce{H2740} wrath{H639} of Jehovah{H3068} is upon you. 12 Then certain{H582} of the heads{H7218} of the children{H1121} of Ephraim,{H669} Azariah{H5838} the son{H1121} of Johanan,{H3076} Berechiah{H1296} the son{H1121} of Meshillemoth,{H4919} and Jehizkiah{H3169} the son{H1121} of Shallum,{H7967} and Amasa{H6021} the son{H1121} of Hadlai,{H2311} stood up{H6965} against them that came{H935} from the war,{H6635} 13 and said{H559} unto them, Ye shall not bring in{H935} the captives{H7633} hither: for ye purpose{H559} that which will bring upon us a trespass{H819} against Jehovah,{H3068} to add{H3254} unto our sins{H2403} and to our trespass;{H819} for our trespass{H819} is great,{H7227} and there is fierce{H7227} wrath{H639} against Israel.{H3478} 14 So the armed men{H2502} left{H5800} the captives{H7633} and the spoil{H961} before{H6440} the princes{H8269} and all the assembly.{H6951} 15 And the men{H582} that have been mentioned{H5344} by name{H8034} rose up,{H6965} and took{H2388} the captives,{H7633} and with the spoil{H7998} clothed{H3847} all that were naked{H4636} among them, and arrayed{H3847} them, and shod{H5274} them, and gave them to eat{H398} and to drink,{H8248} and anointed{H5480} them, and carried{H5095} all the feeble{H3782} of them upon asses,{H2543} and brought{H935} them to Jericho,{H3405} the city{H5892} of palm-trees,{H8558} unto{H681} their brethren:{H251} then they returned{H7725} to Samaria.{H8111} 16 At that time{H6256} did king{H4428} Ahaz{H271} send{H7971} unto the kings{H4428} of Assyria{H804} to help{H5826} him. 17 For again the Edomites{H130} had come{H935} and smitten{H5221} Judah,{H3063} and carried away{H7617} captives.{H7628} 18 The Philistines{H6430} also had invaded{H6584} the cities{H5892} of the lowland,{H8219} and of the South{H5045} of Judah,{H3063} and had taken{H3920} Beth-shemesh,{H1053} and Aijalon,{H357} and Gederoth,{H1450} and Soco{H7755} with the towns{H1323} thereof, and Timnah{H8553} with the towns{H1323} thereof, Gimzo{H1579} also and the towns{H1323} thereof: and they dwelt{H3427} there. 19 For Jehovah{H3068} brought{H3665} Judah{H3063} low{H3665} because of Ahaz{H271} king{H4428} of Israel;{H3478} for he had dealt{H6544} wantonly{H6544} in Judah,{H3063} and trespassed{H4603} sore{H4604} against Jehovah.{H3068} 20 And Tilgath-pilneser{H8407} king{H4428} of Assyria{H804} came{H935} unto him, and distressed{H6696} him, but strengthened{H2388} him not. 21 For Ahaz{H271} took away a portion{H2505} out of the house{H1004} of Jehovah,{H3068} and out of the house{H1004} of the king{H4428} and of the princes,{H8269} and gave{H5414} it unto the king{H4428} of Assyria:{H804} but it helped{H5833} him not. 22 And in the time{H6256} of his distress{H6887} did he trespass{H4603} yet more{H3254} against Jehovah,{H3068} this same king{H4428} Ahaz.{H271} 23 For he sacrificed{H2076} unto the gods{H430} of Damascus,{H1834} which smote{H5221} him; and he said,{H559} Because the gods{H430} of the kings{H4428} of Syria{H758} helped{H5826} them, therefore will I sacrifice{H2076} to them, that they may help{H5826} me. But they were the ruin{H3782} of him, and of all Israel.{H3478} 24 And Ahaz{H271} gathered together{H622} the vessels{H3627} of the house{H1004} of God,{H430} and cut in pieces{H7112} the vessels{H3627} of the house{H1004} of God,{H430} and shut up{H5462} the doors{H1817} of the house{H1004} of Jehovah;{H3068} and he made{H6213} him altars{H4196} in every corner{H6438} of Jerusalem.{H3389} 25 And in every city{H5892} of Judah{H3063} he made{H6213} high places{H1116} to burn incense{H6999} unto other{H312} gods,{H430} and provoked to anger{H3707} Jehovah,{H3068} the God{H430} of his fathers.{H1} 26 Now the rest{H3499} of his acts,{H1697} and all his ways,{H1870} first{H7223} and last,{H314} behold, they are written{H3789} in the book{H5612} of the kings{H4428} of Judah{H3063} and Israel.{H3478} 27 And Ahaz{H271} slept{H7901} with his fathers,{H1} and they buried{H6912} him in the city,{H5892} even in Jerusalem;{H3389} for they brought{H935} him not into the sepulchres{H6913} of the kings{H4428} of Israel:{H3478} and Hezekiah{H3169} his son{H1121} reigned{H4427} in his stead. 1 Hezekiah{H3169} began to reign{H4427} when he was five{H2568} and twenty{H6242} years{H8141} old;{H1121} and he reigned{H4427} nine{H8672} and twenty{H6242} years{H8141} in Jerusalem:{H3389} and his mother's{H517} name{H8034} was Abijah,{H29} the daughter{H1323} of Zechariah.{H2148} 2 And he did{H6213} that which was right{H3477} in the eyes{H5869} of Jehovah,{H3068} according to all that David{H1732} his father{H1} had done.{H6213} 3 He in the first{H7223} year{H8141} of his reign,{H4427} in the first{H7223} month,{H2320} opened{H6605} the doors{H1817} of the house{H1004} of Jehovah,{H3068} and repaired{H2388} them. 4 And he brought in{H935} the priests{H3548} and the Levites,{H3881} and gathered them together{H622} into the broad{H7339} place on the east,{H4217} 5 and said{H559} unto them, Hear{H8085} me, ye Levites;{H3881} now sanctify{H6942} yourselves, and sanctify{H6942} the house{H1004} of Jehovah,{H3068} the God{H430} of your fathers,{H1} and carry forth{H3318} the filthiness{H5079} out of the holy{H6944} place. 6 For our fathers{H1} have trespassed,{H4603} and done{H6213} that which was evil{H7451} in the sight{H5869} of Jehovah{H3068} our God,{H430} and have forsaken{H5800} him, and have turned away{H5437} their faces{H6440} from the habitation{H4908} of Jehovah,{H3068} and turned{H5414} their backs.{H6203} 7 Also they have shut up{H5462} the doors{H1817} of the porch,{H197} and put out{H3518} the lamps,{H5216} and have not burned{H6999} incense{H7004} nor offered{H5927} burnt-offerings{H5930} in the holy{H6944} place unto the God{H430} of Israel.{H3478} 8 Wherefore the wrath{H7110} of Jehovah{H3068} was upon Judah{H3063} and Jerusalem,{H3389} and he hath delivered{H5414} them to be tossed{H2189} to and fro, to be an astonishment,{H8047} and a hissing,{H8322} as ye see{H7200} with your eyes.{H5869} 9 For, lo, our fathers{H1} have fallen{H5307} by the sword,{H2719} and our sons{H1121} and our daughters{H1323} and our wives{H802} are in captivity{H7628} for this. 10 Now it is in my heart{H3824} to make{H3772} a covenant{H1285} with Jehovah,{H3068} the God{H430} of Israel,{H3478} that his fierce{H2740} anger{H639} may turn away{H7725} from us. 11 My sons,{H1121} be not now negligent;{H7952} for Jehovah{H3068} hath chosen{H977} you to stand{H5975} before{H6440} him, to minister{H8334} unto him, and that ye should be his ministers,{H8334} and burn incense.{H6999} 12 Then the Levites{H3881} arose,{H6965} Mahath,{H4287} the son{H1121} of Amasai,{H6022} and Joel{H3100} the son{H1121} of Azariah,{H5838} of the sons{H1121} of the Kohathites;{H6956} and of the sons{H1121} of Merari,{H4847} Kish{H7027} the son{H1121} of Abdi,{H5660} and Azariah{H5838} the son{H1121} of Jehallelel;{H3094} and of the Gershonites,{H1649} Joah{H3098} the son{H1121} of Zimmah,{H2155} and Eden{H5731} the son{H1121} of Joah;{H3098} 13 and of the sons{H1121} of Elizaphan,{H469} Shimri{H8113} and Jeuel;{H3273} and of the sons{H1121} of Asaph,{H623} Zechariah{H2148} and Mattaniah;{H4983} 14 and of the sons{H1121} of Heman,{H1968} Jehuel{H3171} and Shimei;{H8096} and of the sons{H1121} of Jeduthun,{H3038} Shemaiah{H8098} and Uzziel.{H5816} 15 And they gathered{H622} their brethren,{H251} and sanctified{H6942} themselves, and went{H935} in, according to the commandment{H4687} of the king{H4428} by the words{H1697} of Jehovah,{H3068} to cleanse{H2891} the house{H1004} of Jehovah.{H3068} 16 And the priests{H3548} went{H935} in unto the inner part{H6441} of the house{H1004} of Jehovah,{H3068} to cleanse{H2891} it, and brought out{H3318} all the uncleanness{H2932} that they found{H4672} in the temple{H1964} of Jehovah{H3068} into the court{H2691} of the house{H1004} of Jehovah.{H3068} And the Levites{H3881} took{H6901} it, to carry it out{H3318} abroad{H2351} to the brook{H5158} Kidron.{H6939} 17 Now they began{H2490} on the first{H259} [day] of the first{H7223} month{H2320} to sanctify,{H6942} and on the eighth{H8083} day{H3117} of the month{H2320} came{H935} they to the porch{H197} of Jehovah;{H3068} and they sanctified{H6942} the house{H1004} of Jehovah{H3068} in eight{H8083} days:{H3117} and on the sixteenth{H8337} day of the first{H7223} month{H2320} they made an end.{H3615} 18 Then they went{H935} in{H6441} to Hezekiah{H2396} the king{H4428} within [the palace], and said,{H559} We have cleansed{H2891} all the house{H1004} of Jehovah,{H3068} and the altar{H4196} of burnt-offering,{H5930} with all the vessels{H3627} thereof, and the table{H7979} of showbread,{H4635} with all the vessels{H3627} thereof. 19 Moreover all the vessels,{H3627} which king{H4428} Ahaz{H271} in his reign{H4438} did cast away{H2186} when he trespassed,{H4604} have we prepared{H3559} and sanctified;{H6942} and, behold, they are before{H6440} the altar{H4196} of Jehovah.{H3068} 20 Then Hezekiah{H3169} the king{H4428} arose early,{H7925} and gathered{H622} the princes{H8269} of the city,{H5892} and went up{H5927} to the house{H1004} of Jehovah.{H3068} 21 And they brought{H935} seven{H7651} bullocks,{H6499} and seven{H7651} rams,{H352} and seven{H7651} lambs,{H3532} and seven{H7651} he -{H6842} goats,{H5795} for a sin-offering{H2403} for the kingdom{H4467} and for the sanctuary{H4720} and for Judah.{H3063} And he commanded{H559} the priests{H3548} the sons{H1121} of Aaron{H175} to offer{H5927} them on the altar{H4196} of Jehovah.{H3068} 22 So they killed{H7819} the bullocks,{H1241} and the priests{H3548} received{H6901} the blood,{H1818} and sprinkled{H2236} it on the altar:{H4196} and they killed{H7819} the rams,{H352} and sprinkled{H2236} the blood{H1818} upon the altar:{H4196} they killed{H7819} also the lambs,{H3532} and sprinkled{H2236} the blood{H1818} upon the altar.{H4196} 23 And they brought near{H5066} the he - goats{H8163} for the sin-offering{H2403} before{H6440} the king{H4428} and the assembly;{H6951} and they laid{H5564} their hands{H3027} upon them: 24 and the priests{H3548} killed{H7819} them, and they made a sin-offering{H2398} with their blood{H1818} upon the altar,{H4196} to make atonement{H3722} for all Israel;{H3478} for the king{H4428} commanded{H559} [that] the burnt-offering{H5930} and the sin-offering{H5930} [should be made] for all Israel.{H3478} 25 And he set{H5975} the Levites{H3881} in the house{H1004} of Jehovah{H3068} with cymbals,{H4700} with psalteries,{H5035} and with harps,{H3658} according to the commandment{H4687} of David,{H1732} and of Gad{H1410} the king's{H4428} seer,{H2374} and Nathan{H5416} the prophet;{H5030} for the commandment{H4687} was of{H3027} Jehovah{H3068} by{H3027} his prophets.{H5030} 26 And the Levites{H3881} stood{H5975} with the instruments{H3627} of David,{H1732} and the priests{H3548} with the trumpets.{H2689} 27 And Hezekiah{H2396} commanded{H559} to offer{H5927} the burnt-offering{H5930} upon the altar.{H4196} And when{H6256} the burnt-offering{H5930} began,{H2490} the song{H7892} of Jehovah{H3068} began{H2490} also, and the trumpets,{H2689} together with the instruments{H3627} of{H3027} David{H1732} king{H4428} of Israel.{H3478} 28 And all the assembly{H6951} worshipped,{H7812} and the singers{H7892} sang,{H7891} and the trumpeters{H2689} sounded;{H2690} all this [continued] until the burnt-offering{H5930} was finished.{H3615} 29 And when they had made an end{H3615} of offering,{H5927} the king{H4428} and all that were present{H4672} with him bowed{H3766} themselves and worshipped.{H7812} 30 Moreover Hezekiah{H3169} the king{H4428} and the princes{H8269} commanded{H559} the Levites{H3881} to sing praises{H1984} unto Jehovah{H3068} with the words{H1697} of David,{H1732} and of Asaph{H623} the seer.{H2374} And they sang praises{H1984} with gladness,{H8057} and they bowed their heads{H6915} and worshipped.{H7812} 31 Then Hezekiah{H3169} answered{H6030} and said,{H559} Now ye have consecrated{H4390} yourselves unto Jehovah;{H3068} come near{H5066} and bring{H935} sacrifices{H2077} and thank-offerings{H8426} into the house{H1004} of Jehovah.{H3068} And the assembly{H6951} brought in{H935} sacrifices{H2077} and thank-offerings;{H8426} and as many as were of a willing{H5081} heart{H3820} [brought] burnt-offerings.{H5930} 32 And the number{H4557} of the burnt-offerings{H5930} which the assembly{H6951} brought{H935} was threescore and ten{H7657} bullocks,{H1241} a hundred{H3967} rams,{H352} and two hundred{H3967} lambs:{H3532} all these were for a burnt-offering{H5930} to Jehovah.{H3068}
- Isa 7:1-9 : 1 And it came to pass in the days{H3117} of Ahaz{H271} the son{H1121} of Jotham,{H3147} the son{H1121} of Uzziah,{H5818} king{H4428} of Judah,{H3063} that Rezin{H7526} the king{H4428} of Syria,{H758} and Pekah{H6492} the son{H1121} of Remaliah,{H7425} king{H4428} of Israel,{H3478} went up{H5927} to Jerusalem{H3389} to war{H4421} against it, but could{H3201} not prevail{H3898} against it. 2 And it was told{H5046} the house{H1004} of David,{H1732} saying,{H559} Syria{H758} is confederate{H5117} with Ephraim.{H669} And his heart{H3824} trembled,{H5128} and the heart{H3824} of his people,{H5971} as the trees{H6086} of the forest{H3293} tremble{H5128} with{H6440} the wind.{H7307} 3 Then said{H559} Jehovah{H3068} unto Isaiah,{H3470} Go forth{H3318} now to meet{H7125} Ahaz,{H271} thou, and Shear-jashub{H7610} thy son,{H1121} at the end{H7097} of the conduit{H8585} of the upper{H5945} pool,{H1295} in the highway{H4546} of the fuller's{H3526} field;{H7704} 4 and say{H559} unto him, Take heed,{H8104} and be quiet;{H8252} fear{H3372} not, neither let thy heart be faint,{H7401} because of these two{H8147} tails{H2180} of smoking{H6226} firebrands,{H181} for the fierce{H2750} anger{H639} of Rezin{H7526} and Syria,{H758} and of the son{H1121} of Remaliah.{H7425} 5 Because Syria,{H758} Ephraim,{H669} and the son{H1121} of Remaliah,{H7425} have purposed{H3289} evil{H7451} against thee, saying,{H559} 6 Let us go up{H5927} against Judah,{H3063} and vex{H6973} it, and let us make a breach{H1234} therein for us, and set{H4427} up a king{H4428} in the midst{H8432} of it, even the son{H1121} of Tabeel;{H2870} 7 thus{H3541} saith{H559} the Lord{H136} Jehovah,{H3069} It shall not stand,{H6965} neither shall it come to pass. 8 For the head{H7218} of Syria{H758} is Damascus,{H1834} and the head{H7218} of Damascus{H1834} is Rezin;{H7526} and within threescore{H8346} and five{H2568} years{H8141} shall Ephraim{H669} be broken{H2865} in pieces, so that it shall not be a people:{H5971} 9 and the head{H7218} of Ephraim{H669} is Samaria,{H8111} and the head{H7218} of Samaria{H8111} is Remaliah's{H7425} son.{H1121} If ye will not believe,{H539} surely ye shall not be established.{H539} 10 And Jehovah{H3068} spake{H1696} again{H3254} unto Ahaz,{H271} saying,{H559} 11 Ask{H7592} thee a sign{H226} of Jehovah{H3068} thy God;{H430} ask{H7592} it either in the depth,{H6009} or in the height{H1361} above.{H4605} 12 But Ahaz{H271} said,{H559} I will not ask,{H7592} neither will I tempt{H5254} Jehovah.{H3068} 13 And he said,{H559} Hear{H8085} ye now, O house{H1004} of David:{H1732} Is it a small thing{H4592} for you to weary{H3811} men,{H582} that ye will weary{H3811} my God{H430} also?
- Isa 36:1-9 : 1 Now it came to pass in the fourteenth{H702} year{H8141} of king{H4428} Hezekiah,{H2396} that Sennacherib{H5576} king{H4428} of Assyria{H804} came up{H5927} against all the fortified{H1219} cities{H5892} of Judah,{H3063} and took{H8610} them. 2 And the king{H4428} of Assyria{H804} sent{H7971} Rabshakeh{H7262} from Lachish{H3923} to Jerusalem{H3389} unto king{H4428} Hezekiah{H2396} with a great{H3515} army.{H2426} And he stood{H5975} by the conduit{H8585} of the upper{H5945} pool{H1295} in the highway{H4546} of the fuller's{H3526} field.{H7704} 3 Then came forth{H3318} unto him Eliakim{H471} the son{H1121} of Hilkiah,{H2518} who was over the household,{H1004} and Shebna{H7644} the scribe,{H5608} and Joah,{H3098} the son{H1121} of Asaph,{H623} the recorder.{H2142} 4 And Rabshakeh{H7262} said{H559} unto them, Say{H559} ye now to Hezekiah,{H2396} Thus saith{H559} the great{H1419} king,{H4428} the king{H4428} of Assyria,{H804} What confidence{H986} is this wherein thou trustest?{H982} 5 I say,{H559} [thy] counsel{H6098} and strength{H1369} for the war{H4421} are but vain{H8193} words:{H1697} now on whom dost thou trust,{H982} that thou hast rebelled{H4775} against me? 6 Behold, thou trustest{H982} upon the staff{H4938} of this bruised{H7533} reed,{H7070} even upon Egypt,{H4714} whereon if a man{H376} lean,{H5564} it will go{H935} into his hand,{H3709} and pierce{H5344} it: so is Pharaoh{H6547} king{H4428} of Egypt{H4714} to all that trust{H982} on him. 7 But if thou say{H559} unto me, We trust{H982} in Jehovah{H3068} our God:{H430} is not that he, whose high places{H1116} and whose altars{H4196} Hezekiah{H2396} hath taken away,{H5493} and hath said{H559} to Judah{H3063} and to Jerusalem,{H3389} Ye shall worship{H7812} before{H6440} this altar?{H4196} 8 Now therefore, I pray thee, give pledges{H6148} to my master{H113} the king{H4428} of Assyria,{H804} and I will give{H5414} thee two thousand{H505} horses,{H5483} if thou be able{H3201} on thy part to set{H5414} riders{H7392} upon them. 9 How then canst thou turn away{H7725} the face{H6440} of one{H259} captain{H6346} of the least{H6996} of my master's{H113} servants,{H5650} and put thy trust{H982} on Egypt{H4714} for chariots{H7393} and for horsemen?{H6571} 10 And am I now come up{H5927} without{H1107} Jehovah{H3068} against this land{H776} to destroy{H7843} it? Jehovah{H3068} said{H559} unto me, Go up{H5927} against this land,{H776} and destroy{H7843} it. 11 Then said{H559} Eliakim{H471} and Shebna{H7644} and Joah{H3098} unto Rabshakeh,{H7262} Speak,{H1696} I pray thee, unto thy servants{H5650} in the Syrian language;{H762} for we understand{H8085} it: and speak{H1696} not to us in the Jews' language,{H3066} in the ears{H241} of the people{H5971} that are on the wall.{H2346} 12 But Rabshakeh{H7262} said,{H559} Hath my master{H113} sent{H7971} me to thy master,{H113} and to thee, to speak{H1696} these words?{H1697} [hath he] not [sent me] to the men{H582} that sit{H3427} upon the wall,{H2346} to eat{H398} their own dung,{H2716} and to drink{H8354} their own water{H7272} with you? 13 Then Rabshakeh{H7262} stood,{H5975} and cried{H7121} with a loud{H1419} voice{H6963} in the Jews' language,{H3066} and said,{H559} Hear{H8085} ye the words{H1697} of the great{H1419} king,{H4428} the king{H4428} of Assyria.{H804} 14 Thus saith{H559} the king,{H4428} Let not Hezekiah{H2396} deceive{H5377} you; for he will not be able{H3201} to deliver{H5337} you: 15 neither let Hezekiah{H2396} make you trust{H982} in Jehovah,{H3068} saying,{H559} Jehovah{H3068} will surely{H5337} deliver{H5337} us; this city{H5892} shall not be given{H5414} into the hand{H3027} of the king{H4428} of Assyria.{H804} 16 Hearken{H8085} not to Hezekiah:{H2396} for thus saith{H559} the king{H4428} of Assyria,{H804} Make{H6213} your peace{H1293} with me, and come out{H3318} to me; and eat{H398} ye every one{H376} of his vine,{H1612} and every one{H376} of his fig-tree,{H8384} and drink{H8354} ye every one{H376} the waters{H4325} of his own cistern;{H953} 17 until I come{H935} and take you away{H3947} to a land{H776} like your own land,{H776} a land{H776} of grain{H1715} and new wine,{H8492} a land{H776} of bread{H3899} and vineyards.{H3754} 18 Beware lest Hezekiah{H2396} persuade{H5496} you, saying,{H559} Jehovah{H3068} will deliver{H5337} us. Hath any{H376} of the gods{H430} of the nations{H1471} delivered{H5337} his land{H776} out of the hand{H3027} of the king{H4428} of Assyria?{H804} 19 Where are the gods{H430} of Hamath{H2574} and Arpad?{H774} where are the gods{H430} of Sepharvaim?{H5617} and have they delivered{H5337} Samaria{H8111} out of my hand?{H3027} 20 Who are they among all the gods{H430} of these countries,{H776} that have delivered{H5337} their country{H776} out of my hand,{H3027} that Jehovah{H3068} should deliver{H5337} Jerusalem{H3389} out of my hand?{H3027} 21 But they held their peace,{H2790} and answered{H6030} him not a word;{H1697} for the king's{H4428} commandment{H4687} was, saying,{H559} Answer{H6030} him not. 22 Then came{H935} Eliakim{H471} the son{H1121} of Hilkiah,{H2518} that was over the household,{H1004} and Shebna{H7644} the scribe,{H5608} and Joah,{H3098} the son{H1121} of Asaph,{H623} the recorder,{H2142} to Hezekiah{H2396} with their clothes{H899} rent,{H7167} and told{H5046} him the words{H1697} of Rabshakeh.{H7262}
