Brothers and sisters dearly loved by God, we know that He has chosen you.

Because our gospel came to you not only in words, but also with power, with the Holy Spirit, and with deep conviction. As you know, we lived among you for your sake.

And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, receiving the message in much affliction with the joy of the Holy Spirit.

As a result, you became an example to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia.

For fra dere har Herrens ord blitt forkynt, ikke bare i Makedonia og Akaia, men også overalt har troen deres på Gud blitt kjent, så vi har ikke behov for å si noe.

For the word of the Lord has sounded forth from you—not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but your faith in God has gone out everywhere, so that we don’t need to say anything.

For they themselves tell about how you welcomed us and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God.

And to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead—Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.
