Ørkenen og det tørre land skal glede seg, ødemarken skal juble og blomstre som en lilje.

The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad; the desert shall rejoice and bloom like a crocus.

Den skal blomstre rikelig og juble med glede og jubel. Libanons herlighet er gitt til den, Karmels prakt og Sharons skjønnhet. De skal se Herrens herlighet, vår Guds prakt.

It will burst into bloom abundantly and rejoice with joy and singing. The glory of Lebanon will be given to it, the splendor of Carmel and Sharon. They will see the glory of the Lord, the splendor of our God.

Styrk de slappe hender, gjør de skjelvende knær sterke.

Strengthen the weak hands and make firm the feeble knees.

Si til de med engstelig hjerte: Vær sterke, frykt ikke! Se, deres Gud kommer med hevn, Guds gjengjeldelse kommer; Han kommer og frelser dere.

Say to those with fearful hearts, 'Be strong; do not fear! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, with divine retribution. He will come and save you.'

Da skal blindes øyne bli åpnet, og døves ører skal bli åpnet.

Then the eyes of the blind will be opened, and the ears of the deaf will be unstopped.

Da skal den halte springe som en hjort, og den stummes tunge skal rope av glede. For i ørkenen bryter det fram vann, og bekker i ødemarken.

Then the lame will leap like a deer, and the tongue of the mute will sing for joy. For waters will break forth in the wilderness and streams in the desert.

Den brennhete sand skal bli til innsjøer, det tørstende land til vannkilder. I sjakalens bolig der de hviler, skal det vokse gress, siv og rør.

The burning sand will become a pool, and the thirsty ground springs of water. In the habitation of jackals, where they lie, grass will grow with reeds and rushes.

Der skal det være en vei, en vei av hellighet. Ingen uren skal gå der, men den skal være for de som går på veien. Selv dårer skal ikke fare vill.

And there will be a highway there, called the Way of Holiness. The unclean will not travel on it, but it will be for those who walk in that way—fools shall not wander astray.

Der skal ikke være noen løve, intet rovdyr skal ferdes der. De skal ikke finnes der, men de gjenløste skal vandre der.

No lion will be there, nor will any ferocious beast go upon it. They will not be found there, but only the redeemed will walk there.

Herrens gjenløste skal vende tilbake og komme til Sion med jubel. Evig glede skal hvile over deres hoder, fryd og glede skal komme til dem, sorg og sukk skal forsvinne.

The redeemed of the Lord will return and come to Zion with singing. Everlasting joy will crown their heads; they will obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.
