But I will bring it health and healing, I will heal them and reveal to them an abundance of peace and truth.

I will restore the fortunes of Judah and the fortunes of Israel, and I will rebuild them as they were at first.

I will cleanse them from all the iniquity they have committed against me and forgive all their iniquities of sin and rebellion against me.

Then this city will bring me joy, praise, and glory before all the nations of the earth who hear of all the good I do for it. They will tremble in awe because of all the goodness and peace I provide for it.

For I will restore the fortunes of the land as they were at first, says the Lord.

Så sier Herren over hærskarene: På dette stedet, som er ødelagt, uten mennesker og til og med uten dyr, skal det i alle dets byer være beitemarker for hyrder som lar flokken legge seg.

This is what the Lord Almighty says: In this desolate place, without people or animals, and in all its towns, there will again be pastures for shepherds to rest their flocks.

I fjellbyene, i lavlandets byer, i Negev-landets byer og i Benjamin-landet og omkretsen av Jerusalem og i Judas byer, skal det igjen gå en flokk forbi under hyrdens hånd som teller dem, sier Herren.

In the towns of the hill country, the western foothills, and the Negev, in the territory of Benjamin, around Jerusalem, and in the towns of Judah, flocks will again pass under the hands of the one who counts them, says the Lord.

Se, dager kommer, sier Herren, da jeg vil oppfylle det gode løftet jeg har talt om Israels hus og Judas hus.

Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will fulfill the good promise I have made to the house of Israel and the house of Judah.

I de dager og på den tid vil jeg la en rettferdig spire vokse fram for David, og han skal utføre rett og rettferdighet i landet.

In those days and at that time, I will cause a righteous Branch to sprout for David, and he will administer justice and righteousness in the land.

In those days, Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will dwell securely. This is the name by which she will be called: The Lord Our Righteousness.

For this is what the Lord says: David will never fail to have a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel.

Og levitt-prestene skal heller aldri mangle en mann for mitt åsyn til å bære fram brennoffer, brenne grødeoffer og ofre slaktoffer alle dager.

Nor will the Levitical priests ever fail to have a man before me to offer burnt offerings, to present grain offerings, and to make sacrifices continually.

Så sier Herren: Hvis dere kan bryte min pakt med dagen og min pakt med natten, så det ikke er dag og natt på sine tider,

This is what the Lord says: If you could break my covenant with the day and my covenant with the night so that day and night would not come at their appointed time,

så skal også min pakt med David, min tjener, brytes, slik at han ikke har en sønn som skal herske på tronen. Likeledes med levittene, prestene, mine tjenere.

Just as the stars in the sky cannot be counted and the sand on the seashore cannot be measured, so will I multiply the descendants of David my servant and the Levites who minister before me.

Har du ikke lagt merke til hva dette folk har sagt: De to familiene Herren har utvalgt – dem har han foraktet? Derfor forakter de også mitt folk, som ikke lenger er et folk for deres øyne.

Have you not noticed what these people are saying: 'The Lord has rejected the two families he chose'? So they despise my people and no longer regard them as a nation.

Så sier Herren: Hvis ikke min pakt med dag og natt står fast, og hvis jeg ikke har satt stiftelsene i himmelen og på jorden,

This is what the Lord says: If I have not established my covenant with day and night and the fixed laws of heaven and earth,

da vil jeg også forkaste Jakobs ætt og min tjener David, så jeg ikke vil ta noen av hans ætt til å herske over Abrahams, Isaks og Jakobs ætt. Men jeg vil vende deres skjebne og vise dem medynk.

then I will reject the descendants of Jacob and my servant David and will not choose one of his descendants to rule over the offspring of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. But I will restore their fortunes and have compassion on them.
