Ved daggry, den første dag i uken, kom de til graven og hadde med seg de velluktende oljene de hadde forberedt. Noen andre kvinner var også med dem.

On the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, carrying the spices they had prepared, and some other women were with them.

De fant steinen rullet bort fra graven.

They found the stone rolled away from the tomb.

Men da de gikk inn, fant de ikke Herren Jesu kropp.

But when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.

Mens de var forvirret over dette, se, to menn i strålende klær stod plutselig ved dem.

While they were perplexed about this, suddenly, two men stood by them in dazzling garments.

I frykt bøyde de ansiktet mot jorden, men mennene sa til dem: "Hvorfor leter dere etter den levende blant de døde?

The women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, "Why are you looking for the living one among the dead?"

"Han er ikke her, men han er oppstått! Husk hvordan han talte til dere mens han ennå var i Galilea,

He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee,

"og sa at Menneskesønnen måtte bli overgitt i syndige menneskers hender, bli korsfestet og stå opp på den tredje dag."

"The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified, and on the third day rise again."

Så husket de hans ord.

Then they remembered his words.

De vendte tilbake fra graven og fortalte alt dette til de elleve og til alle de andre.

Returning from the tomb, they reported all these things to the eleven and to all the others.

Det var Maria Magdalena, Johanna, Maria, Jakobs mor, og de andre kvinnene som var med dem, som fortalte dette til apostlene.

It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them who were telling these things to the apostles.

Men det de sa, virket for disiplene som tomt snakk, og de trodde dem ikke.

But their words seemed like nonsense to them, and they did not believe the women.

Men Peter reiste seg og løp til graven. Da han bøyde seg ned og så inn, så han bare linneklærne. Han gikk bort og undret seg over det som hadde skjedd.

But Peter got up and ran to the tomb. Stooping to look in, he saw the linen cloths lying there by themselves, and he went away, wondering what had happened.

Samme dag var to av dem på vei til en landsby som heter Emmaus, omtrent seksti stadier fra Jerusalem.

On that same day, two of them were walking to a village named Emmaus, which was about seven miles from Jerusalem.

De snakket med hverandre om alt som var skjedd.

They were talking with each other about all the things that had happened.

Mens de samtalte og diskuterte, kom Jesus selv nær og gikk sammen med dem.

As they were talking and discussing, Jesus himself came near and began to walk with them.

Men øynene deres ble hindret i å gjenkjenne ham.

But their eyes were restrained, so they did not recognize him.

Han spurte dem: "Hva er det dere går og snakker om med hverandre mens dere går?" Da stanset de, dystre i ansiktet.

He asked them, "What are you discussing as you walk along?" They stopped, looking sad.

Den ene, som het Kleopas, svarte: "Er du den eneste som besøker Jerusalem og ikke vet hva som har skjedd der i disse dager?"

One of them, named Cleopas, replied, "Are you the only one visiting Jerusalem who does not know what has happened in these days?"

Han spurte dem: "Hva da?" De svarte: "Det som har hendt med Jesus fra Nasaret, som var en profet, mektig i gjerning og ord for Gud og hele folket.

He asked, "What things?" They replied, "The things about Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people.

"Hvordan våre yppersteprester og rådsherrer overgav ham til dødsdom og korsfestet ham.

The chief priests and our rulers handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him.

"Men vi hadde håpet at han var den som skulle befri Israel. Dessuten er det i dag den tredje dagen siden dette hendte.

But we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. What is more, it is the third day since all this happened.

Noen kvinner blant oss gjorde oss også forferdet. De gikk tidlig til graven,

In addition, some women of our group amazed us. They went to the tomb early this morning,

men fant ikke kroppen hans. De kom og sa at de hadde sett et syn av engler som sa at han lever.

but did not find his body. They came back and told us that they had seen a vision of angels, who said he was alive.

Noen av dem som var med oss, gikk til graven, og de fant det akkurat slik kvinnene hadde sagt, men ham selv så de ikke.

Then some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but they did not see him.

Da sa han til dem: "Så uforstandige dere er, og så trege til å tro alt det profetene har sagt!

He said to them, "How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken!

Måtte ikke Kristus lide dette og så gå inn til sin herlighet?"

Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?"

Og han begynte med Moses og alle profetene og forklarede dem det som står skrevet om ham i alle Skriftene.

And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.

De nærmet seg landsbyen de var på vei til, og han lot som om han ville gå videre.

As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus acted as if he were going farther.

Men de bad ham innstendig: "Bli hos oss, for det lir mot kveld, og dagen er snart over." Da gikk han inn for å bli hos dem.

But they urged him strongly, saying, "Stay with us, for it is nearly evening and the day is almost over." So he went in to stay with them.

Mens han satt til bords med dem, tok han brødet, velsignet det, brøt det og gav dem.

When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it, and began to give it to them.

Da ble øynene deres åpnet, og de kjente ham igjen; men han ble usynlig for dem.

Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized him; and he disappeared from their sight.

De sa til hverandre: "Brant ikke hjertet vårt i oss mens han talte til oss på veien, og åpnet Skriftene for oss?"

They said to each other, "Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?"

De brøt opp med det samme og vendte tilbake til Jerusalem. Der fant de de elleve og de andre som var samlet,

They got up at once and returned to Jerusalem. There they found the eleven and those with them, assembled together.

og de sa: "Herren er virkelig stått opp, og han har vist seg for Simon!"

They were saying, "It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon."

Så fortalte de hva som hadde hendt på veien, og hvordan de hadde kjent ham igjen da han brøt brødet.

Then the two told what had happened on the way, and how Jesus was recognized by them when he broke the bread.

Mens de talte om dette, stod Jesus selv midt iblant dem og sa: "Fred være med dere."

While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with you."

De ble forferdet og fylt av frykt, for de trodde de så en ånd.

They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost.

Men han sa til dem: "Hvorfor er dere urolige, og hvorfor stiger tvil opp i deres hjerter?

He said to them, "Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts?"

"Se mine hender og mine føtter, at det er meg selv. Rør ved meg og se! En ånd har ikke kjøtt og bein, som dere ser at jeg har."

Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have."

Og da han hadde sagt dette, viste han dem sine hender og føtter.

When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet.

Mens de ennå ikke trodde av glede, og undret seg, sa han til dem: "Har dere noe å spise her?"

And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, "Do you have anything here to eat?"

De gav ham et stykke stekt fisk, og noe av en honningkake.

They gave him a piece of broiled fish, and some honeycomb,

Han tok det og spiste foran øynene på dem.

and he took it and ate it before them.

Så sa han til dem: "Dette er mine ord, som jeg talte til dere mens jeg ennå var med dere: Alt som står skrevet om meg i Moseloven, i profetene og i salmene, må oppfylles."

He said to them, "This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms."

Da åpnet han deres sinn, så de kunne forstå Skriftene.

Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.

Og han sa til dem: "Slik står det skrevet: Kristus måtte lide og oppstå fra de døde den tredje dag,

He told them, "This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day.

"og i hans navn skal omvendelse og syndenes forlatelse forkynnes for alle folkeslag, og det skal begynne i Jerusalem.

And repentance and forgiveness of sins will be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Dere er vitner om dette.

You are witnesses of these things.

Og se, jeg sender over dere det som min Far har lovt. Men bli i byen til dere blir fylt med kraft fra det høye.

And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city of Jerusalem until you are clothed with power from on high.

Så førte han dem ut mot Betania, og løftet hendene og velsignet dem.

Then he led them out as far as Bethany, and raising his hands, he blessed them.

Og mens han velsignet dem, ble han skilt fra dem og løftet opp til himmelen.

While he was blessing them, he departed from them and was taken up to heaven.

De tilba ham og vendte tilbake til Jerusalem med stor glede.

And they worshipped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy.

Og de var alltid i templet og lovpriste Gud. Amen.

And they were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.
