After the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.

Og se, det ble et stort jordskjelv, for en Herrens engel kom ned fra himmelen, rullet bort steinen og satte seg på den.

Suddenly, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven. Approaching the tomb, he rolled away the stone and sat on it.

Han så ut som lyn, og klærne hans var hvite som snø.

His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing was as white as snow.

Vaktene skalv av frykt for ham og ble som døde.

The guards trembled in fear of him and became like dead men.

Men engelen sa til kvinnene: Vær ikke redde! Jeg vet at dere leter etter Jesus, den korsfestede.

The angel spoke to the women, saying, 'Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.'

Han er ikke her; han er stått opp, slik han sa. Kom og se stedet hvor han lå.

'He is not here; He has risen, just as He said. Come and see the place where He was lying.'

Og gå raskt og si til disiplene hans at han er stått opp fra de døde. Se, han går i forveien for dere til Galilea; der skal dere se ham. Se, jeg har sagt dere det.

'Then go quickly and tell His disciples, “He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. You will see Him there.” Behold, I have told you.'

Så gikk de raskt bort fra graven, fulle av frykt og stor glede, og løp for å fortelle det til disiplene hans.

So they hurried away from the tomb, filled with fear and great joy, and ran to tell His disciples.

Og se, Jesus møtte dem og sa: Vær hilset! De gikk bort til ham, grep føttene hans og tilba ham.

As they were on their way to report to the disciples, Jesus met them and said, 'Greetings!' They came to Him, held His feet, and worshiped Him.

Da sa Jesus til dem: Vær ikke redde! Gå og si til mine brødre at de skal dra til Galilea; der skal de se meg.

Then Jesus said to them, 'Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me.'

Mens de var på vei, kom noen av vaktene inn til byen og fortalte overprestene alt som var skjedd.

While they were on their way, some of the guards went into the city and reported to the chief priests everything that had happened.

Da samlet de seg med de eldste, holdt råd, og ga soldatene mye penger,

The chief priests met with the elders, and after consulting together, they gave the soldiers a large amount of silver money.

og sa: Si at disiplene hans kom om natten og stjal ham mens vi sov.

They instructed them, 'Say this: “His disciples came during the night and stole Him away while we were asleep.”'

Og hvis dette får høre hos guvernøren, vil vi overtale ham og sørge for at dere kan være uten bekymring.

'If this is reported to the governor, we will persuade him and keep you out of trouble.'

Så tok de pengene og gjorde som de ble instruert. Dette ryktet er blitt spredt blant jødene til denne dag.

So they took the silver coins and did as they were instructed. This story has been spread among the Jews to this very day.

Men de elleve disiplene gikk til Galilea, til fjellet hvor Jesus hadde befalt dem å gå.

But the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had directed them.

Da de så ham, falt de ned og tilba ham; men noen tvilte.

When they saw Him, they worshiped Him, but some doubted.

Da trådte Jesus fram, talte til dem og sa: Jeg har fått all makt i himmelen og på jorden.

Then Jesus came closer and spoke to them, saying, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.'

Gå derfor og gjør alle folkeslag til disipler, døp dem til Faderens, Sønnens og Den hellige ånds navn,

'Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,'

og lær dem å holde alt det jeg har befalt dere. Og se, jeg er med dere alle dager inntil verdens ende. Amen.

'teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.'
