Herre, vår Herre, hvor majestetisk er ditt navn over hele jorden! Du har satt din prakt over himmelen.

LORD, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! You have set Your glory above the heavens.

Fra småbarns og spedbarns munn har du grunnlagt styrke for dine fienders skyld, for å bringe til taushet fienden og hevneren.

Out of the mouths of infants and nursing babies, You have established strength because of Your adversaries, to silence the enemy and the avenger.

Når jeg ser din himmel, dine fingrers verk, månen og stjernene som du har satt der,

When I look at Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon, and the stars that You have set in place—

hva er da et menneske at du husker på ham, et menneskebarn at du tar deg av ham?

what is humanity that You remember them, and the son of man that You care for him?

Du gjorde ham lite ringere enn Gud og kroner ham med herlighet og ære.

You made him a little lower than God, and crowned him with glory and honor.

Du gjorde ham til hersker over dine henders verk; alt har du lagt under hans føtter:

You made him ruler over the works of Your hands; You put everything under his feet—

Småfe og storfe, alle sammen, og også markens ville dyr,

sheep and cattle, all of them, and even the beasts of the field,

himmelens fugler og havets fisker, alt som drar fram på havets stier.

the birds of the sky, and the fish of the sea passing through the paths of the seas.
