Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding the key to the abyss and a great chain in his hand.

He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.

Og han kastet ham ned i avgrunnen, lukket den og satte segl over ham, så han ikke skulle forville nasjonene mer før de tusen år var omme. Etter det må han bli løslatt en kort tid.

He threw him into the abyss, locked it, and sealed it over him, so that he could not deceive the nations anymore until the thousand years were completed. After that, he must be released for a short time.

Then I saw thrones, and those who sat on them were given authority to judge. I also saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their testimony about Jesus and for the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.

Men de andre døde ble ikke levende før de tusen år var omme. Dette er den første oppstandelsen.

The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed. This is the first resurrection.

Salig og hellig er den som har del i den første oppstandelsen. Over dem har den andre død ingen makt, men de skal være prester for Gud og Kristus og herske med ham i tusen år.

Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection! The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years.

Og når de tusen år er omme, skal Satan bli løslatt fra sitt fengsel.

When the thousand years are completed, Satan will be released from his prison.

Og han skal gå ut for å forføre nasjonene ved jordens fire hjørner, Gog og Magog, for å samle dem til krig. Deres antall er som sanden ved havet.

He will go out to deceive the nations at the four corners of the earth—Gog and Magog—and gather them for battle. Their number is like the sand on the seashore.

Og de marsjerte opp over jordens bredde og omringet de helliges leir og den elskede by. Da falt det ild ned fra Gud fra himmelen og fortærte dem.

They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God’s people, the beloved city. But fire came down from heaven and consumed them.

Og djevelen, som forførte dem, ble kastet i sjøen av ild og svovel, hvor dyret og den falske profeten er. Og de skal bli pint dag og natt i all evighet.

And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet are. They will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

Then I saw a great white throne and the one seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and no place was found for them.

Og jeg så de døde, små og store, stå foran Gud, og bøker ble åpnet. Og en annen bok ble åpnet, som er livets bok. Og de døde ble dømt etter det som sto skrevet i bøkene, etter deres gjerninger.

And I saw the dead, both great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books.

The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them. Each person was judged according to what they had done.

Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death.

Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.
