In the beginning was the Logos, and the Logos was with God, and God was the Logos.
This one was in the beginning with God.
All things through him came into being; and without him came into being not even one thing which has come into being.
In him life was; and the life was the light of men.
And the light in the darkness shines; and the darkness comprehended it not.
There came a man sent from God, name to him John.
This one came for testimony, that he might testify concerning the Light, that all might believe through him.
He was not that Light, but that he might testify concerning the Light.
He was the Light the true, which enlightens every man coming into the world.
In the world he was, and the world through him came into being, and the world him knew not.
To his own he came, and his own received him not.
But as many as received him, he gave to them authority children of God to become, to those believing in his name:
Who not of bloods, nor of will of flesh, nor of will of man, but of God were born.
And the Logos flesh became, and tabernacled among us, (and we beheld his glory, glory as of the only-begotten from the Father,) full of grace and truth.
John testifies concerning him, and has cried out, saying, This was he of whom I said, He who after me comes before me has become: for first of me he was.
And from his fullness we all received, and grace for grace.
For the law through Moses was given, grace and truth through Jesus Christ came.
God no one has seen at any time; the only-begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, that one has declared him.
And this is the testimony of John, when sent the Jews from Jerusalem priests and Levites that they might ask him, You who are?
And he confessed, and denied not; and confessed, I am not the Christ.
And they asked him, What then? Elijah are you? And he says, I am not. The prophet are you? And he answered, No.
They said therefore to him, Who are you? that an answer we may give to those who sent us. What say you about yourself?
He said, I am a voice crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said Isaiah the prophet.
And those who had been sent were of the Pharisees.
And they asked him, and said to him, Why then baptize you, if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the prophet?
Answered them John, saying, I baptize in water: but in midst of you stands one whom you know not;
He it is who after me comes, who before me has become, of whom I am not worthy that I should loose his strap of the sandal.
These things in Bethabara took place beyond the Jordan, where was John baptizing.
The next day sees John Jesus coming toward him, and says, Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.
This is he concerning whom I said, After me comes a man who before me has become: for first of me he was.
And I knew him not: but that he might be manifested to Israel, for this I came in the water baptizing.
And testified John, saying, I have beheld the Spirit descending like a dove from heaven, and it remained upon him.
And I knew him not: but he who sent me to baptize in water, that one to me said, Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining upon him, this is he who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.
And I have seen, and have testified that this is the Son of God.
The next day again stood John, and of his disciples two;
And looking at Jesus walking, he says, Behold the Lamb of God!
And heard him the two disciples speaking, and they followed Jesus.
And having turned Jesus, and having seen them following, says to them, What seek you? And they said to him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Teacher,) where do you stay?
He says to them, Come and see. They came and saw where he stays, and with him remained that day: and hour was about the tenth.
Was Andrew the brother of Simon Peter, one of the two who heard from John, and followed him.
Finds he first his own brother Simon, and says to him, We have found the Messiah, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.
And he brought him to Jesus. And looking at him Jesus said, You are Simon the son of Jonah: you shall be called Cephas, which is interpreted, Peter.
The next day desired Jesus to go forth into Galilee, and finds Philip, and says to him, Follow me.
Now was Philip from Bethsaida, from the city of Andrew and Peter.
Finds Philip Nathanael, and says to him, Him of whom wrote Moses in the law, and the prophets, we have found, Jesus the son of Joseph, the one from Nazareth.
And said to him Nathanael, From Nazareth can any good thing be? says to him Philip, Come and see.
Saw Jesus Nathanael coming toward him, and says concerning him, Behold truly an Israelite, in whom deceit is not!
Says to him Nathanael, From where me do you know? answered Jesus and said to him, Before you Philip called, being under the fig tree, I saw you.
Answered Nathanael and says to him, Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel.
Answered Jesus and said to him, Because I said to you, I saw you underneath the fig tree, do you believe? greater than these you shall see.
And he says to him, Truly, truly, I say to you, From now on you shall see the heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.
