Når du kommer inn i landet som Herren din Gud gir deg til arv, og har tatt det i eie og bor der,

And it shall be, when thou art come in unto the land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and possessest it, and dwellest therein,

da skal du ta av det første av all frukt av jorden, som du høster fra landet Herren din Gud gir deg; og du skal legge det i en kurv og gå til det stedet som Herren din Gud utvelger for å la sitt navn bo der.

that thou shalt take of the first of all the fruit of the ground, which thou shalt bring in from thy land that Jehovah thy God giveth thee; and thou shalt put it in a basket, and shalt go unto the place which Jehovah thy God shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there.

Du skal gå til presten som er der på den tiden og si til ham: Jeg bekjenner i dag for Herren min Gud at jeg er kommet inn i landet som Herren med ed lovte våre fedre å gi oss.

And thou shalt come unto the priest that shall be in those days, and say unto him, I profess this day unto Jehovah thy God, that I am come unto the land which Jehovah sware unto our fathers to give us.

Og presten skal ta kurven fra din hånd og sette den ned foran Herrens, din Guds, alter.

And the priest shall take the basket out of thy hand, and set it down before the altar of Jehovah thy God.

Da skal du svare og si framfor Herren din Gud: En arameer som holdt på å gå til grunne var min far; han dro ned til Egypt og bodde der som fremmed, få i antall, men der ble han til et stort, mektig og talrikt folk.

And thou shalt answer and say before Jehovah thy God, A Syrian ready to perish was my father; and he went down into Egypt, and sojourned there, few in number; and he became there a nation, great, mighty, and populous.

Egypterne behandlet oss dårlig, plaget oss og la tungt arbeid på oss.

And the Egyptians dealt ill with us, and afflicted us, and laid upon us hard bondage:

Da ropte vi til Herren, våre fedres Gud. Herren hørte vår røst, så vår nød, vår slit og vår undertrykkelse.

and we cried unto Jehovah, the God of our fathers, and Jehovah heard our voice, and saw our affliction, and our toil, and our oppression;

Han førte oss ut av Egypt med sterk hånd, med utstrakt arm, med stor frykt, tegn og under.

and Jehovah brought us forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with great terribleness, and with signs, and with wonders;

Og han har latt oss komme til dette stedet og gitt oss dette landet, et land som flyter med melk og honning.

and he hath brought us into this place, and hath given us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey.

Se, nå har jeg brakt den første frukten av jorden som du, Herre, har gitt meg. Du skal sette den ned for Herren din Gud og tilbe foran Herren din Gud.

And now, behold, I have brought the first of the fruit of the ground, which thou, O Jehovah, hast given me. And thou shalt set it down before Jehovah thy God, and worship before Jehovah thy God:

Du skal glede deg over alt det gode Herren din Gud har gitt deg og ditt hus, både du, levitten og den fremmede som er hos deg.

and thou shalt rejoice in all the good which Jehovah thy God hath given unto thee, and unto thy house, thou, and the Levite, and the sojourner that is in the midst of thee.

Når du har sluttet å ta tiende av all din avling i det tredje året, som er tiendeåret, da skal du gi det til levitten, den fremmede, den farløse og enken, så de kan spise innenfor dine porter og bli mette.

When thou hast made an end of tithing all the tithe of thine increase in the third year, which is the year of tithing, then thou shalt give it unto the Levite, to the sojourner, to the fatherless, and to the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled.

Du skal si foran Herren din Gud: Jeg har fjernet det hellige fra mitt hus og også gitt det til levitten, den fremmede, den farløse og enken, i henhold til alle dine befalinger som du har pålagt meg. Jeg har ikke overtrådt noen av dine bud eller glemt dem.

And thou shalt say before Jehovah thy God, I have put away the hallowed things out of my house, and also have given them unto the Levite, and unto the sojourner, to the fatherless, and to the widow, according to all thy commandment which thou hast commanded me: I have not transgressed any of thy commandments, neither have I forgotten them:

Jeg har ikke spist av det i sorg, heller ikke fjernet noe av det mens jeg var uren, eller gitt noe av det for de døde. Jeg har lyttet til Herrens, min Guds, stemme; jeg har handlet i samsvar med alt du har pålagt meg.

I have not eaten thereof in my mourning, neither have I put away thereof, being unclean, nor given thereof for the dead: I have hearkened to the voice of Jehovah my God; I have done according to all that thou hast commanded me.

Se ned fra din hellige bolig, fra himmelen, og velsign ditt folk Israel og den jord du har gitt oss, som du lovte våre fedre, et land som flyter med melk og honning.

Look down from thy holy habitation, from heaven, and bless thy people Israel, and the ground which thou hast given us, as thou swarest unto our fathers, a land flowing with milk and honey.

I dag pålegger Herren din Gud deg å holde disse lover og bud; derfor skal du holde dem av hele ditt hjerte og hele din sjel.

This day Jehovah thy God commandeth thee to do these statutes and ordinances: thou shalt therefore keep and do them with all thy heart, and with all thy soul.

Du har i dag bekjent at Herren skal være din Gud, og at du skal vandre på hans veier, holde hans lover, hans bud og hans forskrifter og lytte til hans røst.

Thou hast avouched Jehovah this day to be thy God, and that thou wouldest walk in his ways, and keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his ordinances, and hearken unto his voice:

Og Herren har i dag bekjent at du skal være hans eiendomsfolk, slik han har lovt deg, og at du skal holde alle hans bud;

and Jehovah hath avouched thee this day to be a people for his own possession, as he hath promised thee, and that thou shouldest keep all his commandments;

og at han vil sette deg høyt over alle folk han har skapt, til pris, ry og ære; og at du skal være et hellig folk for Herren din Gud, slik han har sagt.

and to make thee high above all nations that he hath made, in praise, and in name, and in honor; and that thou mayest be a holy people unto Jehovah thy God, as he hath spoken.
