Og det skal hende, når alt dette kommer over deg, velsignelsen og forbannelsen som jeg har lagt fram for deg, og du tenker på det blant alle nasjonene hvor Herren din Gud har drevet deg,

And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations, whither Jehovah thy God hath driven thee,

og du vender tilbake til Herren din Gud og adlyder hans røst i samsvar med alt det jeg befaler deg i dag, du og dine barn, med hele ditt hjerte og hele din sjel,

and shalt return unto Jehovah thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thy heart, and with all thy soul;

da vil Herren din Gud vende fangenskapet ditt og ha medfølelse med deg, og han vil samle deg igjen fra alle folkene som Herren din Gud har spredd deg blant.

that then Jehovah thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the peoples, whither Jehovah thy God hath scattered thee.

Om noen av dine bortkomne befinner seg ved himmelens ytterste grense, derfra vil Herren din Gud samle deg og føre deg tilbake.

If `any of' thine outcasts be in the uttermost parts of heaven, from thence will Jehovah thy God gather thee, and from thence will he fetch thee:

Og Herren din Gud vil føre deg til det landet dine fedre eide, og du skal eie det; og han vil gjøre deg godt og gjøre deg mer tallrik enn dine fedre.

and Jehovah thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it; and he will do thee good, and multiply thee above thy fathers.

Og Herren din Gud vil omskjære ditt hjerte og dine etterkommeres hjerte, så du kan elske Herren din Gud av hele ditt hjerte og hele din sjel, for at du kan leve.

And Jehovah thy God will circumcise thy heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love Jehovah thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.

Og Herren din Gud vil legge alle disse forbannelsene på dine fiender og dem som hater deg, som forfulgte deg.

And Jehovah thy God will put all these curses upon thine enemies, and on them that hate thee, that persecuted thee.

Og du skal vende tilbake og adlyde Herrens røst og følge alle hans bud som jeg befaler deg i dag.

And thou shalt return and obey the voice of Jehovah, and do all his commandments which I command thee this day.

Og Herren din Gud vil gjøre deg rik i alle gjerninger du gjør, i din kropps frukt, din buskaps frukt og din jords frukt, til det gode: for Herren vil igjen glede seg over deg til det gode, slik han gledet seg over dine fedre.

And Jehovah thy God will make thee plenteous in all the work of thy hand, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, for good: for Jehovah will again rejoice over thee for good, as he rejoiced over thy fathers;

Hvis du lyder Herrens din Guds røst, og holder hans bud og lover som er skrevet i denne lovens bok; hvis du vender om til Herren din Gud med hele ditt hjerte og hele din sjel.

if thou shalt obey the voice of Jehovah thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law; if thou turn unto Jehovah thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul.

For denne befalingen som jeg befaler deg i dag, er ikke for vanskelig for deg, heller ikke er den langt borte.

For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not too hard for thee, neither is it far off.

Den er ikke i himmelen, at du skal si, Hvem vil gå opp til himmelen for oss og bringe den til oss, så vi kan høre den og gjøre den?

It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, and make us to hear it, that we may do it?

Den er heller ikke på andre siden av havet, at du skal si, Hvem vil dra over havet for oss og bringe den til oss, så vi kan høre den og gjøre den?

Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, and make us to hear it, that we may do it?

Men ordet er veldig nært deg, i din munn og i ditt hjerte, så du kan gjøre det.

But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.

Se, jeg har lagt fram for deg i dag livet og det gode, døden og det onde;

See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;

ved at jeg befaler deg i dag å elske Herren din Gud, å vandre på hans veier og å holde hans bud, lover og forskrifter, så du kan leve og bli tallrik, og at Herren din Gud kan velsigne deg i det landet du drar inn for å eie.

in that I command thee this day to love Jehovah thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his ordinances, that thou mayest live and multiply, and that Jehovah thy God may bless thee in the land whither thou goest in to possess it.

Men hvis ditt hjerte vender seg bort, og du ikke vil høre, men dras bort for å tilbe andre guder og tjene dem,

But if thy heart turn away, and thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them;

så erklærer jeg for dere i dag at dere vil gå til grunne; dere vil ikke forlenge deres dager i det landet dere krysser Jordan for å komme inn og eie.

I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish; ye shall not prolong your days in the land, whither thou passest over the Jordan to go in to possess it.

I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that I have set before thee life and death, the blessing and the curse: therefore choose life, that thou mayest live, thou and thy seed;

ved å elske Herren din Gud, ved å adlyde hans røst og være trofast mot ham; for han er ditt liv og din lange levetid, så du kan bo i det landet som Herren sverget å gi dine fedre, Abraham, Isak og Jakob.

to love Jehovah thy God, to obey his voice, and to cleave unto him; for he is thy life, and the length of thy days; that thou mayest dwell in the land which Jehovah sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.
