Og Herren talte til Moses etter at Arons to sønner døde da de kom nær Herren og døde;

And Jehovah spake unto Moses, after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they drew near before Jehovah, and died;

og Herren sa til Moses, Tal til Aron, din bror, at han ikke til enhver tid skal komme inn i det hellige innenfor forhenget, foran nådestolen som er på arken, for at han ikke skal dø; for jeg vil åpenbare meg i skyen over nådestolen.

and Jehovah said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the veil, before the mercy-seat which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy-seat.

Med dette skal Aron gå inn i det hellige: med en ung okse som syndoffer og en vær som brennoffer.

Herewith shall Aaron come into the holy place: with a young bullock for a sin-offering, and a ram for a burnt-offering.

Han skal ta på seg den hellige linkjortelen, og han skal ha linbuksene på sin kropp, og han skal binde seg med linbeltet, og ha linenes turban på; dette er de hellige klærne. Han skal bade sin kropp i vann og ta dem på.

He shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen breeches upon his flesh, and shall be girded with the linen girdle, and with the linen mitre shall he be attired: they are the holy garments; and he shall bathe his flesh in water, and put them on.

Og han skal ta fra menigheten, Israels barn, to geitebukker som syndoffer og en vær som brennoffer.

And he shall take of the congregation of the children of Israel two he-goats for a sin-offering, and one ram for a burnt-offering.

Og Aron skal ofre syndofferoksen som er for seg selv, og gjøre soning for seg selv og for sitt hus.

And Aaron shall present the bullock of the sin-offering, which is for himself, and make atonement for himself, and for his house.

Han skal ta de to geitene og stille dem frem for Herren ved inngangen til sammenkomstens telt.

And he shall take the two goats, and set them before Jehovah at the door of the tent of meeting.

Og Aron skal kaste lodd om de to geitene, ett lodd for Herren og ett lodd for Asasel.

And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for Jehovah, and the other lot for Azazel.

Og Aron skal føre frem geiten som loddet for Herren falt på, og ofre den som syndoffer.

And Aaron shall present the goat upon which the lot fell for Jehovah, and offer him for a sin-offering.

Men den geiten som loddet for Asasel falt på, skal stilles levende for Herren, for å gjøre soning over den, for å sende den bort til Asasel i ødemarken.

But the goat, on which the lot fell for Azazel, shall be set alive before Jehovah, to make atonement for him, to send him away for Azazel into the wilderness.

Og Aron skal ofre syndofferoksen som er for seg selv, og gjøre soning for seg selv og for sitt hus, og slakte syndofferoksen som er for seg selv.

And Aaron shall present the bullock of the sin-offering, which is for himself, and shall make atonement for himself, and for his house, and shall kill the bullock of the sin-offering which is for himself:

Og han skal ta en fyrstoppe full av glødende kull fra alteret fremfor Herren, og sine hender fulle av finmalt, velduftende røkelse og bære det innenfor forhenget.

and he shall take a censer full of coals of fire from off the altar before Jehovah, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the veil:

Og han skal legge røkelsen på ilden foran Herren, så skyen av røkelsen dekker nådestolen som er over vitnesbyrdet, for at han ikke skal dø.

and he shall put the incense upon the fire before Jehovah, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy-seat that is upon the testimony, that he die not:

Og han skal ta av oksens blod og sprenge det med sin finger på nådestolen mot østen; og foran nådestolen skal han sprenge av blodet med sin finger sju ganger.

and he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy-seat on the east; and before the mercy-seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times.

Deretter skal han slakte syndoffergeiten, som er for folket, og bringe dens blod innenfor forhenget og gjøre med dette blodet som han gjorde med oksens blod, og sprenge det på nådestolen og foran nådestolen.

Then shall he kill the goat of the sin-offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the veil, and do with his blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy-seat, and before the mercy-seat:

Og han skal gjøre soning for det hellige på grunn av urenhetene til Israels barn, og på grunn av alle deres overtredelser, alle deres synder. Og slik skal han gjøre for sammenkomstens telt som bor hos dem midt i deres urenheter.

and he shall make atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleannesses of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions, even all their sins: and so shall he do for the tent of meeting, that dwelleth with them in the midst of their uncleannesses.

Det skal ikke være noen inne i sammenkomstens telt når han går inn for å gjøre soning i det helligste, før han kommer ut og har gjort soning for seg selv, for sitt hus og for hele Israels menighet.

And there shall be no man in the tent of meeting when he goeth in to make atonement in the holy place, until he come out, and have made atonement for himself, and for his household, and for all the assembly of Israel.

Deretter skal han gå ut til alteret foran Herren og gjøre soning for det, og ta av blodet fra oksen og av blodet fra geiten og stryke det rundt på altarhornene.

And he shall go out unto the altar that is before Jehovah, and make atonement for it, and shall take of the blood of the bullock, and of the blood of the goat, and put it upon the horns of the altar round about.

Og han skal sprenge litt av blodet på det med sin finger sju ganger, og rense det og hellige det fra urenhetene til Israels barn.

And he shall sprinkle of the blood upon it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it, and hallow it from the uncleannesses of the children of Israel.

Når han er ferdig med å sone for det hellige og for sammenkomstens telt og alteret, skal han føre frem den levende geiten.

And when he hath made an end of atoning for the holy place, and the tent of meeting, and the altar, he shall present the live goat:

Og Aron skal legge begge sine hender på hodet til den levende geiten og bekjenne over den alle overtredelsene til Israels barn, alle deres synder, og legge dem på hodet til geiten. Så skal han sende den bort med en mann som er rede til ødemarken.

and Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions, even all their sins; and he shall put them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a man that is in readiness into the wilderness:

Geiten skal bære alle deres synder til et øde land, og mannen skal slippe geiten løs i ødemarken.

and the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a solitary land: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness.

Aron skal deretter komme inn i sammenkomstens telt og ta av seg linklærne som han tok på da han gikk inn i det hellige, og la dem der.

And Aaron shall come into the tent of meeting, and shall put off the linen garments, which he put on when he went into the holy place, and shall leave them there:

Han skal bade sin kropp i vann på et hellig sted, kle seg i sine klær og gå ut og ofre sitt brennoffer og folkets brennoffer og gjøre soning for seg selv og for folket.

and he shall bathe his flesh in water in a holy place, and put on his garments, and come forth, and offer his burnt-offering and the burnt-offering of the people, and make atonement for himself and for the people.

Han skal brenne syndofferets fett på alteret.

And the fat of the sin-offering shall he burn upon the altar.

Den som slapp geiten løs for Asasel skal vaske klærne sine og bade sin kropp i vann, og etterpå komme inn i leiren.

And he that letteth go the goat for Azazel shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.

Oksen for syndofferet og geiten for syndofferet, hvis blod ble båret inn for å gjøre soning i det hellige, skal bli ført ut av leiren, og de skal brenne deres hud, kjøtt og avføring i ild.

And the bullock of the sin-offering, and the goat of the sin-offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the holy place, shall be carried forth without the camp; and they shall burn in the fire their skins, and their flesh, and their dung.

Den som brenner dem skal vaske klærne sine og bade sin kropp i vann, og etterpå komme inn i leiren.

And he that burneth them shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.

Dette skal være en evig lov for dere: I den sjuende måneden, på den tiende dagen, skal dere ydmyke deres sjeler og gjøre ikke noe arbeid, hverken den innfødte eller den fremmede som bor blant dere.

And it shall be a statute for ever unto you: in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, ye shall afflict your souls, and shall do no manner of work, the home-born, or the stranger that sojourneth among you:

For på denne dagen skal det gjøres soning for dere, for å rense dere; fra alle deres synder skal dere være rene for Herren.

for on this day shall atonement be made for you, to cleanse you; from all your sins shall ye be clean before Jehovah.

Det skal være en sabbat med høytidelig hvile for dere, og dere skal ydmyke deres sjeler; det er en evig lov.

It is a sabbath of solemn rest unto you, and ye shall afflict your souls; it is a statute for ever.

Og presten som blir salvet og innviet til å være prest etter sin fars sted, skal gjøre soningen og skal ta på seg linklærne, de hellige klærne.

And the priest, who shall be anointed and who shall be consecrated to be priest in his father's stead, shall make the atonement, and shall put on the linen garments, even the holy garments:

Han skal gjøre soning for det hellige helgedom og for sammenkomstens telt og for alteret; og han skal gjøre soning for prestene og for folket i menigheten.

and he shall make atonement for the holy sanctuary; and he shall make atonement for the tent of meeting and for the altar; and he shall make atonement for the priests and for all the people of the assembly.

Dette skal være en evig lov for dere, å gjøre soning for Israels barn for alle deres synder én gang i året. Og han gjorde som Herren hadde befalt Moses.

And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make atonement for the children of Israel because of all their sins once in the year. And he did as Jehovah commanded Moses.
