O Jehovah, our Lord, How excellent is thy name in all the earth, Who hast set thy glory upon the heavens!

Fra barns og spedbarns munn har du grunnlagt styrke, på grunn av dine fiender, for å bringe fienden og hevneren til taushet.

Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou established strength, Because of thine adversaries, That thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

Når jeg ser på din himmel, dine fingres verk, månen og stjernene som du har satt på plass;

When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, The moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

Hva er da et menneske at du tenker på ham, en menneskesønn at du besøker ham?

What is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him?

Du har gjort ham lite ringere enn Gud, og kronet ham med herlighet og ære.

For thou hast made him but little lower than God, And crownest him with glory and honor.

Du lar ham herske over dine henders verk, og har lagt alt under hans føtter:

Thou makest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; Thou hast put all things under his feet:

Alle sauer og okser, ja, og markens dyr,

All sheep and oxen, Yea, and the beasts of the field,

himmelens fugler og havets fisk, alt som ferdes på havets stier.
