Verse 1
En sang ved festreisen. Herre, husk David og all hans nød;
<A Song of the going up.> Lord, give thought to David, and to all his troubles;
Verse 2
Hvordan han sverget en ed til Herren og lovet Jakobs Gud,
How he made an oath to the Lord, and gave his word to the great God of Jacob, saying,
Verse 3
Sannelig, jeg skal ikke gå inn i mitt hus eller legge meg i min seng,
Truly, I will not come into my house, or go to my bed,
Verse 4
Jeg skal ikke gi søvn til mine øyne eller hvile til mine øyelokk,
I will not give sleep to my eyes, or rest to my eyeballs,
Verse 5
Før jeg har funnet et sted for Herren, et bosted for Jakobs sterke Gud.
Till I have got a place for the Lord, a resting-place for the great God of Jacob.
Verse 6
Vi hørte om det i Efrata, vi fant det på skogens marker.
We had news of it at Ephrathah: we came to it in the fields of the wood.
Verse 7
La oss gå inn i hans telt og tilbe ved hans føtter.
Let us go into his tent; let us give worship at his feet.
Verse 8
Vend tilbake, Herre, til din bolig, du og din styrkes ark.
Come back, O Lord, to your resting-place; you and the ark of your strength.
Verse 9
La dine prester kle seg med rettferdighet, la dine trofaste rope av glede.
Let your priests be clothed with righteousness; and let your saints give cries of joy.
Verse 10
For din tjener Davids skyld, gi ikke opp din salvede konge.
Because of your servant David, do not give up your king.
Verse 11
Herren sverget en sann ed til David, som han ikke skal ta tilbake: Jeg vil gi ditt kongerike til din etterkommer.
The Lord gave a true oath to David, which he will not take back, saying, I will give your kingdom to the fruit of your body.
Verse 12
Hvis dine barn holder mitt ord og de budene jeg vil gi dem, skal deres barn være konger i ditt rike for alltid.
If your children keep my word, and the teachings which I will give them, their children will be rulers of your kingdom for ever.
Verse 13
For Herrens hjerte er på Sion, han ønsker det som sin bolig.
For the Lord's heart is on Zion, desiring it for his resting-place.
Verse 14
Dette er min hvile for alltid; her vil jeg bli, for det er min lyst.
This is my rest for ever: here will I ever be; for this is my desire.
Verse 15
Jeg vil velsigne hennes mat og fylle hennes fattige med brød.
My blessing will be on her food; and her poor will be full of bread.
Verse 16
Hennes prester vil være kledd i frelse, og hennes hellige vil rope av glede.
Her priests will be clothed with salvation; and her saints will give cries of joy.
Verse 17
Der vil jeg gi kraft til Davids horn; jeg har forberedt et lys for min salvede konge.
There I will make the horn of David fertile: I have made ready a light for my king.
Verse 18
Hans fiender vil være kledd i skam, men hans krone vil skinne.
His haters will be clothed with shame; but I will make his crown shining.
