Verse 17

And the Lord himself has done what I said: the Lord has taken the kingdom out of your hand and given it to your neighbour David;

1 Sam 15:27-29 : 27 And when Samuel was turning round to go away, Saul took the skirt of his robe in his hand, and the cloth came away. 28 And Samuel said to him, The Lord has taken away the kingdom of Israel from you this day by force, and has given it to a neighbour of yours who is better than you. 29 And further, the Glory of Israel will not say what is false, and his purpose may not be changed: for he is not a man, whose purpose may be changed.
1 Sam 16:13 : 13 Then Samuel took the bottle of oil, and put the oil on him there among his brothers: and from that day the spirit of the Lord came on David with power. So Samuel went back to Ramah.
1 Sam 24:20 : 20 If a man comes across his hater, will he let him get away safe? so may you be rewarded by the Lord for what you have done for me today.
Prov 16:4 : 4 The Lord has made everything for his purpose, even the sinner for the day of evil.
1 Sam 13:13-14 : 13 And Samuel said to Saul, You have done a foolish thing: you have not kept the rules which the Lord your God gave you; it was the purpose of the Lord to make your authority over Israel safe for ever. 14 But now, your authority will not go on: the Lord, searching for a man who is pleasing to him in every way, has given him the place of ruler over his people, because you have not done what the Lord gave you orders to do.
