But those workmen said among themselves, This is he who will one day be the owner of the property; come, let us put him to death, and the heritage will be ours.

Matt 2:16 : 16 Then Herod, when he saw that he had been tricked by the wise men, was very angry; and he sent out, and put to death all the male children in Beth-lehem and in all the parts round about it, from two years old and under, acting on the knowledge which he had got with care from the wise men.

This man is doing a number of signs. 48 If we let him go on in this way, everybody will have belief in him and the Romans will come and take away our place and our nation. 49 But one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, You have no knowledge of anything; 50 You do not see that it is in your interest for one man to be put to death for the people, so that all the nation may not come to destruction.
