Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him,

Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

not to be quickly shaken in mind or disturbed, either by a spirit, a message, or a letter seeming to come from us, claiming that the day of the Lord has already come.

That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

Let no one deceive you in any way. That day will not come unless the rebellion takes place first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed—the son of destruction.

Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

He opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he sits in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God.

Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

Do you not remember that when I was still with you, I used to tell you these things?

Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

And now you know what restrains him, so that he will be revealed at the proper time.

And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.

For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only the one now restraining it will do so until he is taken out of the way.

For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will destroy with the breath of His mouth and abolish by the splendor of His coming.

And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the workings of Satan, with all kinds of power, false signs, and wonders,

Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

and with every kind of deceit targeting those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.

And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

For this reason, God sends them a powerful delusion, so that they will believe the lie,

And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

in order that all who did not believe the truth but delighted in wickedness might be judged.

That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits for salvation through the sanctification of the Spirit and belief in the truth.

But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

He called you to this through our gospel, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold on to the traditions you were taught, either by what we said or by our letter.

Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.

Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal comfort and good hope by His grace,

Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,

comfort and strengthen your hearts in every good work and word.

Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.
