In the twelfth year, in the twelfth month, on the first day of the month, the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

And it came to pass in the twelfth year, in the twelfth month, in the first day of the month, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

Son of man, sing a lament for Pharaoh king of Egypt, and say to him, 'You consider yourself like a young lion among the nations, but you are like a sea monster in the seas; you thrash about in your rivers, stir the waters with your feet, and muddy their streams.'

Son of man, take up a lamentation for Pharaoh king of Egypt, and say unto him, Thou art like a young lion of the nations, and thou art as a whale in the seas: and thou camest forth with thy rivers, and troubledst the waters with thy feet, and fouledst their rivers.

This is what the Lord GOD says: 'I will spread my net over you with a vast assembly of many peoples, and they will draw you up in my dragnet.

Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will therefore spread out my net over thee with a company of many people; and they shall bring thee up in my net.

I will leave you on the land, hurl you onto the open field. I will make all the birds of the heavens settle on you, and the wild beasts of the earth will feast on you.

Then will I leave thee upon the land, I will cast thee forth upon the open field, and will cause all the fowls of the heaven to remain upon thee, and I will fill the beasts of the whole earth with thee.

I will scatter your flesh on the mountains and fill the valleys with your remains.

And I will lay thy flesh upon the mountains, and fill the valleys with thy height.

I will soak the land with your blood, right up to the mountains; and the ravines will be filled with your masses.

I will also water with thy blood the land wherein thou swimmest, even to the mountains; and the rivers shall be full of thee.

When I extinguish you, I will cover the heavens and darken their stars. I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon will not give its light.

And when I shall put thee out, I will cover the heaven, and make the stars thereof dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give her light.

All the shining lights in the sky I will darken over you, and I will bring darkness over your land, declares the Lord GOD.

All the bright lights of heaven will I make dark over thee, and set darkness upon thy land, saith the Lord GOD.

I will trouble the hearts of many peoples when I bring about your ruin among the nations, in lands you do not know.

I will also vex the hearts of many people, when I shall bring thy destruction among the nations, into the countries which thou hast not known.

I will cause many peoples to be appalled at you, and their kings will shudder in horror over you when I brandish my sword before them. They will tremble every moment, each for their lives, on the day of your downfall.

Yea, I will make many people amazed at thee, and their kings shall be horribly afraid for thee, when I shall brandish my sword before them; and they shall tremble at every moment, every man for his own life, in the day of thy fall.

For this is what the Lord GOD says: 'The sword of the king of Babylon will come against you.'

For thus saith the Lord GOD; The sword of the king of Babylon shall come upon thee.

By the swords of mighty warriors, the most ruthless of all nations, I will bring down your horde. They will ravage the pride of Egypt, and all its hordes will be destroyed.

By the swords of the mighty will I cause thy multitude to fall, the terrible of the nations, all of them: and they shall spoil the pomp of Egypt, and all the multitude thereof shall be destroyed.

I will destroy all its cattle beside many waters, so no human foot will stir them up again, nor will the hooves of cattle stir them up.

I will destroy also all the beasts thereof from beside the great waters; neither shall the foot of man trouble them any more, nor the hoofs of beasts trouble them.

Then I will let their waters settle and make their rivers flow like oil, declares the Lord GOD.

Then will I make their waters deep, and cause their rivers to run like oil, saith the Lord GOD.

When I make the land of Egypt desolate and lay waste everything in it, striking down all who live there, then they will know that I am the LORD.

When I shall make the land of Egypt desolate, and the country shall be destitute of that whereof it was full, when I shall smite all them that dwell therein, then shall they know that I am the LORD.

This is a lamentation, and the daughters of the nations will chant it. They will chant it for Egypt and all her multitude, declares the Lord GOD.

This is the lamentation wherewith they shall lament her: the daughters of the nations shall lament her: they shall lament for her, even for Egypt, and for all her multitude, saith the Lord GOD.

In the twelfth year, on the fifteenth day of the month, the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

It came to pass also in the twelfth year, in the fifteenth day of the month, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

Son of man, wail for the multitude of Egypt, and bring her and the daughters of mighty nations down to the earth below, to those who go down to the pit.

Son of man, wail for the multitude of Egypt, and cast them down, even her, and the daughters of the famous nations, unto the nether parts of the earth, with them that go down into the pit.

Who do you surpass in beauty? Go down and be laid to rest with the uncircumcised.

Whom dost thou pass in beauty? go down, and be thou laid with the uncircumcised.

They will fall among those slain by the sword. The sword is drawn; drag her down along with all her multitudes.

They shall fall in the midst of them that are slain by the sword: she is delivered to the sword: draw her and all her multitudes.

The mighty chiefs will speak of them from the midst of Sheol, with their allies. They have gone down, lying with the uncircumcised, slain by the sword.

The strong among the mighty shall speak to him out of the midst of hell with them that help him: they are gone down, they lie uncircumcised, slain by the sword.

Assyria is there with all her company, their graves all around, all of them slain, fallen by the sword.

Asshur is there and all her company: his graves are about him: all of them slain, fallen by the sword:

Their graves are set in the depths of the pit, and her company is all around her grave, all of them slain, fallen by the sword, spreading terror in the land of the living.

Whose graves are set in the sides of the pit, and her company is round about her grave: all of them slain, fallen by the sword, which caused terror in the land of the living.

Elam is there with all her multitude around her grave, all of them slain, fallen by the sword. They went down uncircumcised to the earth below, having spread their terror in the land of the living. They bear their disgrace with those who go down to the pit.

There is Elam and all her multitude round about her grave, all of them slain, fallen by the sword, which are gone down uncircumcised into the nether parts of the earth, which caused their terror in the land of the living; yet have they borne their shame with them that go down to the pit.

A bed is made for them among the slain with all their multitude. Their graves are around them, all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword. Though their terror was spread in the land of the living, they bear their disgrace with those who go down to the pit; they are placed among the slain.

They have set her a bed in the midst of the slain with all her multitude: her graves are round about him: all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword: though their terror was caused in the land of the living, yet have they borne their shame with them that go down to the pit: he is put in the midst of them that be slain.

Meshech and Tubal are there with all their multitude, their graves surround them, all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword. Though they spread their terror in the land of the living,

There is Meshech, Tubal, and all her multitude: her graves are round about him: all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword, though they caused their terror in the land of the living.

They do not lie with the mighty who have fallen among the uncircumcised, who went down to Sheol with their weapons of war, whose swords were laid under their heads. Their iniquities rest upon their bones, for the terror of the mighty was in the land of the living.

And they shall not lie with the mighty that are fallen of the uncircumcised, which are gone down to hell with their weapons of war: and they have laid their swords under their heads, but their iniquities shall be upon their bones, though they were the terror of the mighty in the land of the living.

But you too will be broken and will lie among the uncircumcised, with those slain by the sword.

Yea, thou shalt be broken in the midst of the uncircumcised, and shalt lie with them that are slain with the sword.

Edom is there with her kings and all her princes, who despite their might, are laid with those killed by the sword. They will lie with the uncircumcised and with those who go down to the pit.

There is Edom, her kings, and all her princes, which with their might are laid by them that were slain by the sword: they shall lie with the uncircumcised, and with them that go down to the pit.

There lie the princes of the north, all of them, and all the Sidonians, who went down with the slain in their terror because of their might. They lie uncircumcised with those slain by the sword, bearing their shame with those who go down to the pit.

There be the princes of the north, all of them, and all the Zidonians, which are gone down with the slain; with their terror they are ashamed of their might; and they lie uncircumcised with them that be slain by the sword, and bear their shame with them that go down to the pit.

Pharaoh will see them and will be comforted for all his multitude, Pharaoh and all his army, slain by the sword, declares the Lord GOD.

For I placed my terror in the land of the living, and he will be laid among the uncircumcised with those slain by the sword, Pharaoh and all his multitude, declares the Lord GOD.

For I have caused my terror in the land of the living: and he shall be laid in the midst of the uncircumcised with them that are slain with the sword, even Pharaoh and all his multitude, saith the Lord GOD.
