Then, after fourteen years, I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus along with me.

Then fourteen years after I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and took Titus with me also.

I went up because of a revelation and presented to them the gospel that I preach among the Gentiles, but I did this privately to those of reputation, so that I might ensure I was not running or had not run in vain.

And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain.

Yet not even Titus, who was with me, though he was Greek, was forced to be circumcised.

But neither Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised:

This arose because of false brothers who were secretly brought in, who slipped in to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus, so they might bring us into bondage.

And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:

But we did not yield in submission to them even for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel might remain with you.

To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.

Now from those who seemed to be important—whatever they were makes no difference to me; God does not show partiality—those of reputation contributed nothing to me.

But of these who seemed to be somewhat, (whatsoever they were, it maketh no matter to me: God accepteth no man's person:) for they who seemed to be somewhat in conference added nothing to me:

On the contrary, when they saw that I had been entrusted with the gospel to the uncircumcised, just as Peter was to the circumcised—

But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter;

(For He who worked through Peter for his apostleship to the circumcised also worked through me for mine to the Gentiles)—

For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:)

And recognizing the grace given to me, James, Cephas, and John, who were esteemed as pillars, gave the right hand of fellowship to me and Barnabas, so that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised.

And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.

They asked only that we remember the poor, the very thing I was eager to do.

Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do.

But when Peter came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned.

But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.

For before certain men came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they came, he began to draw back and separate himself, fearing those of the circumcision group.

For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision.

And the rest of the Jews joined him in his hypocrisy, so that even Barnabas was carried away by their hypocrisy.

And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation.

But when I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter in front of them all, 'If you, being a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you compel the Gentiles to live like Jews?'

But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?

We are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners,

We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles,

yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ. So we also have believed in Christ Jesus in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.

Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

But if, while seeking to be justified in Christ, we ourselves are found to be sinners, is Christ then a servant of sin? Certainly not!

But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.

For if I rebuild what I tore down, I prove myself to be a lawbreaker.

For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.

For through the law I died to the law, so that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ.

For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.

I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could come through the law, then Christ died for nothing.

I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
