The proverbs of Solomon: A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son causes sorrow to his mother.

Verse 2
Treasures gained through wickedness bring no benefit, but righteousness rescues from death.
Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.
Verse 3
The LORD will not let the righteous go hungry, but He thrusts aside the craving of the wicked.
The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.

Laziness leads to poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth.
He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.
Verse 5
The one who gathers during summer is a prudent son, but the one who sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son.
He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.
Verse 6
Blessings are on the head of the righteous, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
Verse 7
The memory of the righteous is a blessing, but the name of the wicked will rot.
The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.
Verse 8
A wise-hearted person accepts commands, but a fool with loose lips will come to ruin.
The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.
Verse 9
The one who walks in integrity walks securely, but the one who perverts his ways will be found out.
He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.
Verse 10
The one who winks with an eye causes trouble, and a fool with loose lips will come to ruin.
He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall.
Verse 11
The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.
The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
Verse 12
Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers all offenses.
Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.
Verse 13
Wisdom is found on the lips of the discerning, but a rod is for the back of those who lack understanding.
In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.
Verse 14
The wise store up knowledge, but the mouth of a fool brings about ruin.
Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.
Verse 15
The wealth of the rich is their fortified city, but poverty is the ruin of the poor.
The rich man's wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty.
Verse 16
The wages of the righteous lead to life, but the income of the wicked leads to sin.
The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.
Verse 17
The one who heeds discipline is on the path of life, but the one who rejects correction leads others astray.
He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.

The one who conceals hatred has lying lips, and whoever spreads slander is a fool.
He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.
Verse 19
When words are many, sin is unavoidable, but the one who restrains his lips is wise.
In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.
Verse 20
The tongue of the righteous is like choice silver, but the heart of the wicked is of little value.
The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.
Verse 21
The lips of the righteous nourish many, but fools die for lack of sense.
The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.
Verse 22
The blessing of the LORD brings wealth, and He adds no sorrow with it.
The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
Verse 23
A fool finds pleasure in wicked schemes, but a person of understanding delights in wisdom.
It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.
Verse 24
What the wicked dread will come upon them, but the desire of the righteous will be granted.
The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.
Verse 25
When the whirlwind passes, the wicked are no more, but the righteous have an everlasting foundation.
As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.
Verse 26
Like vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, so is a sluggard to those who send him.
As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.
Verse 27
The fear of the LORD prolongs life, but the years of the wicked are cut short.
The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
Verse 28
The hope of the righteous is joy, but the expectation of the wicked will perish.
The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.
Verse 29
The way of the LORD is a stronghold to the blameless, but it is ruin to evildoers.
The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.
Verse 30
The righteous will never be moved, but the wicked will not dwell in the land.
The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.
Verse 31
The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom, but a perverse tongue will be cut off.
The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out.
Verse 32
The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked speaks perversities.
