A song of ascents: I called to the LORD in my distress, and He answered me.
In my distress I cried unto the LORD, and he heard me.

LORD, deliver my soul from lying lips and a deceitful tongue.
Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.
Verse 3
What will He give you, and what more will He do to you, deceitful tongue?
What shall be given unto thee? or what shall be done unto thee, thou false tongue?
Verse 4
Sharp arrows of a warrior, along with burning coals of the broom tree.
Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper.
Verse 5
Woe to me that I dwell in Meshech, and live among the tents of Kedar.
Woe is me, that I sojourn in Mesech, that I dwell in the tents of Kedar!
Verse 6
Too long has my soul dwelled with those who hate peace.
My soul hath long dwelt with him that hateth peace.
Verse 7
I am for peace; but when I speak, they are for war.
I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for war.
