Verse 1
To the chief musician, a psalm of David.
The king shall joy in thy strength, O LORD; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!
Verse 2
LORD, in Your strength the king rejoices, and in Your salvation, how greatly he exults!
Thou hast given him his heart's desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah.
Verse 3
You have given him the desire of his heart, and You have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah.
For thou preventest him with the blessings of goodness: thou settest a crown of pure gold on his head.
Verse 4
For You meet him with blessings of good things; You place a crown of pure gold upon his head.
He asked life of thee, and thou gavest it him, even length of days for ever and ever.
Verse 5
He asked You for life, and You gave it to him—length of days, forever and ever.
His glory is great in thy salvation: honour and majesty hast thou laid upon him.
Verse 6
Great is his glory in Your salvation; splendor and majesty You bestow upon him.
For thou hast made him most blessed for ever: thou hast made him exceeding glad with thy countenance.
Verse 7
For You make him a blessing forever; You gladden him with the joy of Your presence.
For the king trusteth in the LORD, and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved.
Verse 8
For the king trusts in the LORD, and through the lovingkindness of the Most High, he will not be shaken.
Thine hand shall find out all thine enemies: thy right hand shall find out those that hate thee.
Verse 9
Your hand will find all Your enemies; Your right hand will discover those who hate You.
Thou shalt make them as a fiery oven in the time of thine anger: the LORD shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them.
Verse 10
You will make them like a fiery furnace in the time of Your presence; the LORD will swallow them in His anger, and fire will consume them.
Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the children of men.
Verse 11
You will destroy their offspring from the earth, and their descendants from among mankind.
For they intended evil against thee: they imagined a mischievous device, which they are not able to perform.
Verse 12
Though they plot evil against You and devise wicked schemes, they will not succeed.
Therefore shalt thou make them turn their back, when thou shalt make ready thine arrows upon thy strings against the face of them.
Verse 13
For You will make them turn their backs; with Your bowstrings, You will aim at their faces.
Be thou exalted, LORD, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy power.
Verse 14
Be exalted, LORD, in Your strength! We will sing and celebrate Your might.
