Verse 1
Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous ones! Praise is fitting for the upright.

Give thanks to the Lord with the lyre; sing praises to Him with a ten-stringed instrument.

Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.

For He spoke, and it came to be; He commanded, and it stood firm.

Verse 10
The Lord frustrates the counsel of the nations; He thwarts the plans of the peoples.
The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect.
Verse 11
The Lord’s counsel stands forever, the plans of His heart from generation to generation.
The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.
Verse 12
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He has chosen as His inheritance.

Verse 13
From heaven the Lord looks down; He sees all the children of men.
The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men.

From His dwelling place, He watches all who live on the earth.
From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth.

He forms the hearts of them all; He understands all their deeds.
He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works.
Verse 16
A king is not saved by a large army; a warrior will not be delivered by great strength.
There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.
Verse 17
A horse is a false hope for victory, and its great strength does not provide escape.
An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.
Verse 18
Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him, on those who hope in His steadfast love.
Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;

To deliver their soul from death and to keep them alive during famine.

Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield.

For our heart rejoices in Him, because we trust in His holy name.

May Your faithful love, Lord, rest upon us, just as we hope in You.
