Verse 1
For the director of music, a psalm of David.
Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.
Verse 2
Blessed is the one who considers the poor; the LORD will deliver him in the time of trouble.
The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.
Verse 3
The LORD will protect him and preserve his life; he will be blessed in the land and will not surrender him to the desire of his enemies.
The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.
Verse 4
The LORD will sustain him on his sickbed and restore him from his illness.
I said, LORD, be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.
Verse 5
I said, 'O LORD, have mercy on me; heal my soul, for I have sinned against you.'
Mine enemies speak evil of me, When shall he die, and his name perish?
Verse 6
My enemies speak evil of me, saying, 'When will he die, and his name perish?
And if he come to see me, he speaketh vanity: his heart gathereth iniquity to itself; when he goeth abroad, he telleth it.
Verse 7
When one of them comes to visit, he speaks falsely, his heart gathers wickedness, and when he goes out, he tells it to others.
All that hate me whisper together against me: against me do they devise my hurt.
Verse 8
All who hate me whisper together against me; they devise evil against me.
An evil disease, say they, cleaveth fast unto him: and now that he lieth he shall rise up no more.
Verse 9
They say, 'A vile disease has overtaken him, and he will never rise again from where he lies.'
Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.
Verse 10
Even my close friend, someone I trusted, who shared my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.
But thou, O LORD, be merciful unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them.
Verse 11
But you, O LORD, have mercy on me and raise me up, that I may repay them.
By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.
Verse 12
By this I know that you delight in me: my enemy does not triumph over me.
And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and settest me before thy face for ever.
Verse 13
As for me, you uphold me in my integrity and set me in your presence forever.
Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting, and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen.
Verse 14
Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Amen and Amen.
