A song, a psalm of the sons of Korah.
Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.
Verse 2
Great is the LORD and highly praised in the city of our God, His holy mountain.
Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.
Verse 3
Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth, Mount Zion in the far north, the city of the great King.
God is known in her palaces for a refuge.
Verse 4
God is known in her palaces as a stronghold.
For, lo, the kings were assembled, they passed by together.
Verse 5
For behold, the kings assembled; they advanced together.
They saw it, and so they marvelled; they were troubled, and hasted away.
Verse 6
They saw it and were astounded; they were terrified and fled in alarm.
Fear took hold upon them there, and pain, as of a woman in travail.
Verse 7
Trembling seized them there, anguish like a woman in labor.
Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish with an east wind.
Verse 8
With an east wind, You shattered the ships of Tarshish.
As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. Selah.
Verse 9
As we have heard, so we have seen in the city of the LORD of Armies, in the city of our God—God establishes her forever. Selah.
We have thought of thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple.
Verse 10
We pondered Your steadfast love, O God, in the midst of Your temple.
According to thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of righteousness.
Verse 11
As Your name, O God, so is Your praise to the ends of the earth. Your right hand is filled with righteousness.
Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of thy judgments.
Verse 12
Let Mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of Your judgments.
Walk about Zion, and go round about her: tell the towers thereof.
Verse 13
Walk around Zion, go around her; count her towers.
Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that ye may tell it to the generation following.
Verse 14
Consider her ramparts, examine her palaces, so that you may tell a future generation.
For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.
Verse 15
For this God is our God forever and ever; He will guide us unto death.
