Verse 1
A psalm of David, written when he was in the wilderness of Judah.
O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
Verse 2
O God, you are my God; I earnestly seek you. My soul thirsts for you, my flesh longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.
To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.
Verse 3
So I have seen you in the sanctuary, to behold your power and your glory.
Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.
Verse 4
Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you.
Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.
Verse 5
So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name, I will lift up my hands.
My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:
Verse 6
My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods, and with joyful lips my mouth will praise you.
When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.
Verse 7
When I remember you upon my bed, and meditate on you in the watches of the night.
Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.
Verse 8
For you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy.
My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.
Verse 9
My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.
But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth.
Verse 10
But those who seek to destroy my life will go down to the depths of the earth.
They shall fall by the sword: they shall be a portion for foxes.
Verse 11
They will be delivered over to the power of the sword; they will become the portion for jackals.
But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory: but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.
Verse 12
But the king will rejoice in God; everyone who swears by him will glory, for the mouths of those who speak lies will be silenced.
