For the Chief Musician, according to Jeduthun, a psalm of Asaph.
I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and he gave ear unto me.
Verse 2
My voice cries out to God, and I will call aloud; my voice reaches God, and He listens to me.
In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted.
Verse 3
In the day of my trouble, I sought the Lord. My hand was stretched out at night and did not grow weary; my soul refused to be comforted.
I remembered God, and was troubled: I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah.
Verse 4
I remember God and moan; I meditate, and my spirit faints. Selah.
Thou holdest mine eyes waking: I am so troubled that I cannot speak.
Verse 5
You have held my eyelids open; I am troubled and cannot speak.
I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times.
Verse 6
I consider the days of old, the years long past.
I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search.
Verse 7
I remember my song in the night; I meditate with my heart, and my spirit searches diligently.
Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favourable no more?
Verse 8
Will the Lord reject forever and never again show His favor?
Is his mercy clean gone for ever? doth his promise fail for evermore?
Verse 9
Has His mercy ceased forever? Has His promise come to an end for all generations?
Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah.
Verse 10
Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has He in anger shut up His compassion? Selah.
And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High.
Verse 11
Then I said, 'This is my sorrow: the years of the right hand of the Most High.'
I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy wonders of old.
Verse 12
I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember Your wonders of old.
I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.
Verse 13
I will meditate on all Your work and reflect on Your mighty deeds.
Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?
Verse 14
Your way, O God, is holy. Who is so great a God as our God?
Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people.
Verse 15
You are the God who works wonders; You have made Your power known among the peoples.
Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.
Verse 16
With Your mighty arm, You redeemed Your people, the children of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.
The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they were afraid: the depths also were troubled.
Verse 17
The waters saw You, O God; the waters saw You and trembled; even the depths were shaken.
The clouds poured out water: the skies sent out a sound: thine arrows also went abroad.
Verse 18
The clouds poured out water; the skies gave forth sound; Your arrows flashed back and forth.
The voice of thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook.
Verse 19
Your thunder echoed in the whirlwind; the lightning lit up the world; the earth trembled and shook.
Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known.
Verse 20
Your way was through the sea, Your path through the waters, though Your footprints were not seen.
Thou leddest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
Verse 21
You led Your people like a flock, by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
