Du skal ikke se din brors okse eller sau som har kommet på avveie, og trekke deg unna; du skal føre dem tilbake til din bror.

You shall not see your brother's ox or his sheep go astray, and hide yourself from them: you shall surely bring them again to your brother.

Hvis din bror ikke bor nær deg, eller hvis du ikke kjenner ham, da skal du ta det med hjem til ditt hus, og det skal være hos deg inntil din bror søker etter det, og du skal gi det tilbake til ham.

If your brother isn't near to you, or if you don't know him, then you shall bring it home to your house, and it shall be with you until your brother seek after it, and you shall restore it to him.

Slik skal du gjøre med hans esel, og slik skal du gjøre med hans klær, og med alle tapte ting som din bror har mistet, og som du har funnet: du har ikke lov til å trekke deg unna.

So shall you do with his donkey; and so shall you do with his garment; and so shall you do with every lost thing of your brother's, which he has lost, and you have found: you may not hide yourself.

Du skal ikke se din brors esel eller okse falle på veien og trekke deg unna; du skal sørge for å hjelpe ham å løfte dem opp igjen.

You shall not see your brother's donkey or his ox fallen down by the way, and hide yourself from them: you shall surely help him to lift them up again.

En kvinne skal ikke bære mannsklær, og en mann skal ikke ta på seg kvinneklær; for den som gjør slike ting er en styggedom for Herren din Gud.

A woman shall not wear men's clothing, neither shall a man put on women's clothing; for whoever does these things is an abomination to Yahweh your God.

Hvis et fuglerede med unger eller egg skulle være foran deg på veien, i et tre eller på bakken, og moren ligger på ungene eller eggene, skal du ikke ta moren sammen med ungene.

If a bird's nest chance to be before you in the way, in any tree or on the ground, with young ones or eggs, and the hen sitting on the young, or on the eggs, you shall not take the hen with the young:

Du skal fri moren, men ungene kan du ta til deg selv; for at det skal gå deg godt, og du kan leve lenge.

you shall surely let the hen go, but the young you may take to yourself; that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days.

Når du bygger et nytt hus, skal du lage et rekkverk for taket ditt, slik at du ikke skal føre blodskyld over ditt hus hvis noen faller ned derfra.

When you build a new house, then you shall make a battlement for your roof, that you don't bring blood on your house, if any man fall from there.

Du skal ikke så ulike arter frø i din vingård, for da blir alt frukten, både det du har sådd og avlingen i vingården, forfeilet.

You shall not sow your vineyard with two kinds of seed, lest the whole fruit be forfeited, the seed which you have sown, and the increase of the vineyard.

Du skal ikke pløye med en okse og et esel i samme åk.

You shall not plow with an ox and a donkey together.

Du skal ikke bære klær av blandet stoff, både ull og lin sammen.

You shall not wear a mixed stuff, wool and linen together.

Du skal lage frynser på de fire kantene av kappene dine, de du dekker deg med.

You shall make you fringes on the four borders of your cloak, with which you cover yourself.

Hvis en mann tar en kone og går inn til henne, men så begynner å hate henne,

If any man take a wife, and go in to her, and hate her,

og legger skammelige beskyldninger på henne, og gir henne et dårlig navn, og sier: Jeg tok denne kvinnen, men da jeg nærmet meg henne, fant jeg ingen jomfrutegn hos henne;

and lay shameful things to her charge, and bring up an evil name on her, and say, I took this woman, and when I came near to her, I didn't find in her the tokens of virginity;

da skal faren til den unge kvinnen og hennes mor ta og legge frem de jomfrutegnene for de eldste i byporten;

then shall the father of the young lady, and her mother, take and bring forth the tokens of the young lady's virginity to the elders of the city in the gate;

og faren til den unge kvinnen skal si til de eldste: Jeg ga min datter til denne mannen til kone, men han hater henne;

and the young lady's father shall tell the elders, I gave my daughter to this man to wife, and he hates her;

og se, han har lagt skammelige beskyldninger på henne, og sier: Jeg fant ikke jomfrutegn hos din datter; men her er jomfrutegnene fra min datter. De skal bre ut kledningen foran de eldste i byen.

and, behold, he has laid shameful things [to her charge], saying, I didn't find in your daughter the tokens of virginity; and yet these are the tokens of my daughter's virginity. They shall spread the garment before the elders of the city.

De eldste i byen skal da ta mannen og tukte ham;

The elders of that city shall take the man and chastise him;

og de skal ilegge ham en bot på hundre sølvsekel, som de skal gi til faren til den unge kvinnen, fordi han har gitt et dårlig navn til en jomfru i Israel. Hun skal bli hans kone; han kan ikke skille seg fra henne så lenge han lever.

and they shall fine him one hundred [shekels] of silver, and give them to the father of the young lady, because he has brought up an evil name on a virgin of Israel: and she shall be his wife; he may not put her away all his days.

Men hvis dette er sant, at jomfrutegnene ikke ble funnet hos den unge kvinnen;

But if this thing be true, that the tokens of virginity were not found in the young lady;

da skal de føre ut den unge kvinnen til døren til hennes fars hus, og mennene i byen skal steine henne til døde med steiner, fordi hun har gjort noe skammelig i Israel, ved å drive hor i sin fars hus. Slik skal du fjerne det onde fra deg.

then they shall bring out the young lady to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death with stones, because she has done folly in Israel, to play the prostitute in her father's house: so shall you put away the evil from the midst of you.

Hvis en mann blir funnet liggende med en kvinne som er gift med en annen mann, skal begge to dø, mannen som lå med kvinnen og kvinnen selv: slik skal du fjerne det onde fra Israel.

If a man be found lying with a woman married to a husband, then they shall both of them die, the man who lay with the woman, and the woman: so shall you put away the evil from Israel.

Hvis det er en ung kvinne som er jomfru og er lovet bort til en mann, og en mann finner henne i byen og ligger med henne,

If there be a young lady who is a virgin pledged to be married to a husband, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her;

da skal dere føre dem begge ut til byporten, og dere skal steine dem til døde med steiner; kvinnen, fordi hun ikke skrek om hjelp, og mannen, fordi han har vært utro med sin nestes kone. Slik skal du fjerne det onde fra deg.

then you shall bring them both out to the gate of that city, and you shall stone them to death with stones; the lady, because she didn't cry, being in the city; and the man, because he has humbled his neighbor's wife: so you shall put away the evil from the midst of you.

Men hvis mannen finner den lovede kvinnen på marken, og tvinger henne og ligger med henne; da skal bare mannen som lå med henne dø;

But if the man find the lady who is pledged to be married in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her; then the man only who lay with her shall die:

men kvinnen skal du ikke gjøre noe, fordi det er ingen synd som fortjener døden i henne: dette er som når en mann reiser seg mot sin neste og dreper ham.

but to the lady you shall do nothing; there is in the lady no sin worthy of death: for as when a man rises against his neighbor, and kills him, even so is this matter;

For han fant henne på marken, den lovede kvinnen skrek, men det var ingen som reddet henne.

for he found her in the field, the pledged to be married lady cried, and there was none to save her.

Hvis en mann finner en jomfru som ikke er lovet bort til noen, og han griper tak i henne og ligger med henne, og de blir oppdaget;

If a man find a lady who is a virgin, who is not pledged to be married, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found;

da skal mannen som lå med henne gi femti sølvsekel til kvinnens far, og hun skal bli hans kone, fordi han har ydmyket henne. Han kan ikke skille seg fra henne så lenge han lever.

then the man who lay with her shall give to the lady's father fifty [shekels] of silver, and she shall be his wife, because he has humbled her; he may not put her away all his days.

En mann skal ikke ta sin fars kone og ikke avdekke sin fars teppe.

A man shall not take his father's wife, and shall not uncover his father's skirt.
