Herren talte til Moses og sa,

Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

"Se, jeg har kalt Besalel, sønn av Uri, sønn av Hur, fra Judas stamme, ved navn:

"Behold, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah:

og jeg har fylt ham med Guds Ånd, med visdom, forstand, kunnskap og all slags håndverk,

and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship,

for å lage kunstferdige arbeider, å arbeide i gull, sølv og kobber,

to devise skillful works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass,

og med å skjære steiner for innfatning, og med treskjæring, for å gjøre alle slags kunstverk.

and in cutting of stones for setting, and in carving of wood, to work in all manner of workmanship.

Herren talte til Moses og sa,

Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

"Tal også til Israels barn og si: 'Dere skal sikkert holde mine sabbater, for det er et tegn mellom meg og dere gjennom generasjonene; for at dere skal vite at jeg er Herren som helliger dere.

"Speak also to the children of Israel, saying, 'Most assuredly you shall keep my Sabbaths: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that you may know that I am Yahweh who sanctifies you.

Derfor skal dere holde sabbaten, for den er hellig for dere. Den som vanhelliger den, skal sannelig dø; for hver den som gjør noe arbeid på den, skal bli avskåret fra sitt folk.

You shall keep the Sabbath therefore; for it is holy to you. Everyone who profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.

I seks dager skal arbeid gjøres, men den sjuende dagen er en sabbat med høytidelig hvile, hellig for Herren. Den som gjør arbeid på sabbatsdagen, skal sannelig dø.

Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to Yahweh. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day shall surely be put to death.

Derfor skal Israels barn holde sabbaten, for å overholde sabbaten gjennom generasjonene, som en evig pakt.

Therefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.

Det er et tegn mellom meg og Israels barn for alltid; for på seks dager skapte Herren himmelen og jorden, og på den sjuende dagen hvilte han, og ble forfrisket.'"

It is a sign between me and the children of Israel forever; for in six days Yahweh made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.'"

Han ga Moses, da han var ferdig med å tale til ham på Sinai-fjellet, de to vitnesbyrdsplatene, steintavler, skrevet med Guds finger.

He gave to Moses, when he finished speaking with him on Mount Sinai, the two tablets of the testimony, stone tablets, written with God's finger.
