Å, landet med susende vinger, som ligger bortenfor elvene i Etiopia;

Ah, the land of the rustling of wings, which is beyond the rivers of Ethiopia;

som sender ambassadører over havet, i papyrusbåter på vannene, [sier]: Gå, dere raske sendebud, til et høyt og glattfolket folk, til et folk som har vært fryktinngytende fra starten av, en nasjon som måler og undertrykker, hvis land elvene deler!

that sends ambassadors by the sea, even in vessels of papyrus on the waters, [saying], Go, you swift messengers, to a nation tall and smooth, to a people awesome from their beginning onward, a nation that measures out and treads down, whose land the rivers divide!

Alle dere som bor i verden, og dere som bor på jorden, når et banner heves på fjellene, se; og når en trompet blåses, lytt.

All you inhabitants of the world, and you dwellers on the earth, when an ensign is lifted up on the mountains, look; and when the trumpet is blown, listen.

For slik har Yahweh sagt til meg: Jeg vil være stille, og jeg vil skue fra min bolig, som klar varme i solskinn, som en duggsky i høstens hete.

For thus has Yahweh said to me, I will be still, and I will see in my dwelling-place, like clear heat in sunshine, like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest.

For før innhøstingen, når blomstringen er over, og blomsten blir til en moden drue, vil han kutte av kvistene med beskjæringskniver, og de utbredte grenene vil han fjerne og kutte ned.

For before the harvest, when the blossom is over, and the flower becomes a ripening grape, he will cut off the sprigs with pruning-hooks, and the spreading branches will he take away [and] cut down.

De skal ligge sammen for de grådige fjellfuglene og jordens dyr; og de grådige fuglene skal tilbringe sommeren på dem, og alle jordens dyr skal tilbringe vinteren på dem.

They shall be left together to the ravenous birds of the mountains, and to the animals of the earth; and the ravenous birds shall summer on them, and all the animals of the earth shall winter on them.

På den tiden skal en gave bli brakt til Yahweh, hærskarenes Gud, [fra] et høyt og glattfolket folk, selv fra et folk som har vært fryktinngytende fra starten av, en nasjon som måler og undertrykker, hvis land elvene deler, til navnet på Yahweh, hærskarenes Gud, på Sions berg.

In that time shall a present be brought to Yahweh of Hosts [from] a people tall and smooth, even from a people awesome from their beginning onward, a nation that measures out and treads down, whose land the rivers divide, to the place of the name of Yahweh of Hosts, Mount Zion.
