Av Salomo. Gud, gi dine dommer til kongen, og din rettferdighet til kongens sønn.

By Solomon. O God, Thy judgments to the king give, And Thy righteousness to the king's son.

Han skal dømme ditt folk med rettferdighet, og dine fattige med rett.

He judgeth Thy people with righteousness, And Thy poor with judgment.

Fjellene skal bringe fred til folket, og høydene ved rettferdighet.

The mountains bear peace to the people, And the heights by righteousness.

Han skal dømme de fattige blant folket, gi frelse til de nødlidendes barn, og knuse undertrykkeren.

He judgeth the poor of the people, Giveth deliverance to the sons of the needy, And bruiseth the oppressor.

De skal frykte deg så lenge solen skinner, så lenge månen lyser, fra generasjon til generasjon.

They fear Thee with the sun, and before the moon, Generation -- generations.

Han skal komme ned som regn på nyslått gress, som dråper som vanner jorden.

He cometh down as rain on mown grass, As showers -- sprinkling the earth.

I hans dager skal de rettferdige blomstre, og det skal være en overflod av fred til månen ikke er mer.

Flourish in his days doth the righteous, And abundance of peace till the moon is not.

Han skal herske fra hav til hav, og fra elven til jordens ender.

And he ruleth from sea unto sea, And from the river unto the ends of earth.

Foran ham skal ørkenens innbyggere bøye seg, og hans fiender skal slikke støvet.

Before him bow do the inhabitants of the dry places, And his enemies lick the dust.

Kongene i Tarsis og på øyene skal bringe gaver. Kongene i Saba og Seba skal komme med gaver.

Kings of Tarshish and of the isles send back a present. Kings of Sheba and Seba a reward bring near.

Alle konger skal bøye seg for ham, alle nasjoner skal tjene ham,

And all kings do bow themselves to him, All nations do serve him,

for han redder den fattige som roper, og den nødlidende som ikke har noen hjelper.

For he delivereth the needy who crieth, And the poor when he hath no helper,

Han har medlidenhet med de fattige og trengende, og frelser de trengendes sjeler.

He hath pity on the poor and needy, And the souls of the needy he saveth,

Han forløser deres sjel fra svik og vold, og deres blod er dyrebart i hans øyne.

From fraud and from violence he redeemeth their soul, And precious is their blood in his eyes.

Må han leve, og gi ham av gullet fra Saba, og stadig be for ham, å velsigne ham hele dagen.

And he liveth, and giveth to him of the gold of Sheba, And prayeth for him continually, All the day he doth bless him.

Det skal være en håndfull korn i landet, på fjelltoppene, og dens frukt skal svaie som Libanon. De skal blomstre ut fra byen som gresset på jorden.

There is a handful of corn in the earth, On the top of mountains, Shake like Lebanon doth its fruit, And they flourish out of the city as the herb of the earth.

Hans navn skal bestå for alltid, så lenge solen skinner skal hans navn vedvare. Alle folk skal velsigne seg i ham, de skal kalle ham lykkelig.

His name is to the age, Before the sun is his name continued, And they bless themselves in him, All nations do pronounce him happy.

Velsignet er Herren Gud, Israels Gud, han som alene gjør underverker,

Blessed is Jehovah God, God of Israel, He alone is doing wonders,

og velsignet være hans herlige navn for evig. Hele jorden skal fylles med hans herlighet. Amen og amen!

And blessed `is' the Name of His honour to the age, And the whole earth is filled `with' His honour. Amen, and amen!
