Neh 9:16-21 : 16 Neuertheles oure fathers were proude and hardnecked, so that they folowed not yi comaundementes, 17 and refused to heare, and were not myndefull of the wonders yt thou dyddest for them: but became obstynate and heady, in so moch that they turned back to their bondage in their dishobedience. But thou my God forgauest, and wast gracious, mercifull, pacient, and of greate goodnesse, and forsokest them not. 18 And though they made a molten calfe (and sayde: This is thy God, that broughte the out of the londe of Egipte) and dyd greate blasphemies, 19 yet forsokest thou them not in the wyldernes, acordinge to thy greate mercy. And ye cloudy piler departed not from them on ye dayetyme to lede them the waye, nether the piler of fyre in the night season, to shewe them lighte in the waye that they wente. 20 And thou gauest them thy good sprete to enfourme them, and withheldest not thy Manna from their mouth, and gauest the water wha they were thirstie. 21 Fortye yeares longe madest thou prouysion for them in the wyldernesse, so that they wanted nothinge: their clothes waxed not olde, and their fete swelled not.
Ps 78:17-42 : 17 He brought waters out of the stony rocke, so that they gusshed out like the ryuers. 18 Yet for all this they synned agaynst him, and prouoked the most hyest in the wildernesse. 19 They tempted God in their hertes, and requyred meate for their lust, 20 For they spake agaynst God and sayde: Yee yee, God shal prepare a table in the wyldernesse, shall he? 21 Lo, he smote the stony rocke, that the watery streames gusshed out, and the streames flowed withall: but how can he geue bred and prouyde flesh for his people? 22 When the LORDE herde this, he was wroth: so the fyre was kyndled in Iacob, and heuy displeasure agaynst Israel. 23 Because they beleued not in God, and put not their trust in his helpe. 24 So he commauded the cloudes aboue, and opened the dores of heauen. 25 He rayned downe Manna vpo them for to eate, and gaue them bred from heauen. 26 Then ate they angels fode, for he sent them meate ynough. 27 He caused the east wynde to blowe vnder the heauen, and thorow his power he brought in the south wynde. 28 He made flesh to rayne vpon them as thicke as dust, and fethered foules like the sonde of ye see. 29 He let it fall amoge their tetes roude aboute their habitacios. 30 So they ate & were fylled, for he gaue them their owne desyre. They were not dispoynted of their lust. 31 But whyle ye meate was yet in theyr mouthes: The heuy wrath of God came vpo the, slewe ye welthiest of the, & smote downe ye chosen men of Israel. 32 But for all this they synned yet more, and beleued not his woderous workes. 33 Therfore their dayes were consumed in vanite, and sodenly their yeares were gone. 34 When he slewe them, they sought him, and turned them early vnto God. 35 They thought then that God was their socoure, and that the hye God was their redemer. 36 Neuerthelesse, they dyd but flater him in their mouthes, and dissembled with him in their tonges. 37 For their herte was not whole with him, nether continued they in his couenaunt. 38 But he was so mercifull, that he forgaue their mysdedes, and destroyed them not: 39 Yee many a tyme turned he his wrath awaye, and wolde not suffre his whole displeasure to aryse. 40 For he considered yt they were but flesh: euen a wynde that passeth awaye, and commeth not agayne. 41 O how oft haue they greued him in the wildernesse? How many a tyme haue they prouoked him in the deserte? 42 They turned backe & tempted God, and moued the holy one in Israel.
Ps 95:8-9 : 8 Todaye yf ye wil heare his voyce, harde not youre hertes, as whe ye prouoked in tyme of temptacion in the wildernes. 9 Where yor fathers tepted me, proued me, and sawe my workes. 10 XL. yeares longe was I greued with that generacion, & sayde: they euer erre in their hertes, they verely haue not knowne my wayes. 11 Therfore I sware vnto the in my wrath, that they shulde not enter in to my rest.
Ps 106:13-29 : 13 But within a whyle they forgat his workes, & wolde not abyde his councell. 14 A lust came vpo them in the wildernesse, so that they tempted God in the deserte. 15 Yet he gaue them their desyre, and sent the ynough at their willes. 16 They angred Moses in the tetes, and Aaron the saynte of the LORDE. 17 So the earth opened & swalowed vp Dathan, and couered the congregacio of Abiram. 18 The fyre was kyndled in their company, the flame brent vp the vngodly. 19 They made a calfe in Horeb, and worshipped the molte ymage. 20 Thus they turned his glory into the similitude of a calfe, yt eateth haye. 21 They forgat God their Sauior, which had done so greate thinges in Egipte. 22 Wonderous workes in the londe of Ham, and fearfull thinges in the reed see. 23 So he sayde he wolde haue destroyed them, had not Moses his chosen stonde before him in yt gappe: to turne awaie his wrothfull indignacion, lest he shulde destroye the. 24 Yee they thought scorne of yt pleasaunt londe, and gaue no credence vnto his worde. 25 But murmured in their tentes, and herkened not vnto the voyce of the LORDE. 26 Then lift he vp his honde agaynst them, to ouerthrowe them in the wildernes. 27 To cast out their sede amonge the nacions, and to scater them in the londes. 28 They ioyned them selues vnto Baal Peor, and ate the offeringes of the deed. 29 Thus they prouoked him vnto anger with their owne invecions, and the plage was greate amonge them.
Ezek 20:10-17 : 10 Now when I had caried them out of the londe of Egipte, and brought them into the wildernesse: 11 I gaue them my commaundementes, & shewed the my lawes: which who so kepeth shal lyue in them. 12 I gaue them also my holy dayes, to be a token betwixte me and them, and therby to knowe, that I am the LORDE, which haloweth them. 13 And yet the house of Israel rebelled agaynst me in the wildernesse, they wolde not walke in my commaundementes, they haue cast awaye my lawes: (which whoso kepeth shulde lyue in them,) and my Sabbath daies haue thy greatly vnhalowed. The I made me to poure out my indignacion vpon them, & to cosume them in the wildernesse. 14 Yet I wolde not do it, for my names sake: lest it shulde be dishonoured before the Heithe, from the which I had caried them awaye. 15 But I swore vnto them in the wildernesse, that I wolde not bringe them into the londe, which I gaue them: a londe that floweth with mylcke & hony, & is a pleasure of all londes: 16 & yt because they refused my lawes, & walked not in my comaundemetes, but had vnhalowed my Sabbathes, for their herte was gone after their Idols. 17 Neuertheles myne eye spared the, so yt I wolde not vtterly slaye the, & cosume the in the wildernes.
Amos 5:25-26 : 25 O ye house of Israel, gaue ye me offeringes and sacrifices those xl. yeares longe in the wyldernesse? 26 Yet haue ye set vp tabernacles to youre Moloch, and ymages of youre Idols, Yee ad the starre of youre god Rempha, figures which ye made to worshipe them.
Acts 7:39-43 : 39 vnto whom oure fathers wolde not be obediet, but thrust him fro the, and in their hertes turned backe agayne in to Egipte, 40 and sayde vnto Aaron: Make vs goddes to go before vs, for we can not tell what is become of this Moses, yt broughte vs out of the lande of Egipte. 41 And they made a calfe at the same tyme, and offred sacrifice vnto the ymage, and reioysed in the workes of their awne handes. 42 But God turned himselfe, & gaue them vp, so that they worshipped the hooste of heaue, as it is wrytten in the boke of the prophetes: O ye house of Israel, gaue ye me sacrifices and catel those fortye yeares in the wyldernesse? 43 And ye toke vnto you ye tabernacle of Moloch, and the starre of youre god Remphan, ymages which ye youre selues made to worshippe the. And I wil cast you out beyonde Babilon.
1 Cor 10:1-9 : 1 Brethren, I wolde not that ye shulde be ignoraunt of this, that oure fathers were all vnder the cloude, and all passed thorow the see, 2 & were all baptised vnder Moses in the cloude and in the see, 3 and dyd all eate of one spirituall meate, 4 and dyd all drynke of one spirituall drynke: but they dronke of the spirituall rocke that folowed the, which rocke was Christ. 5 Neuertheles in many of them had God no delyte, for they were smytten downe in the wyldernesse. 6 These are ensamples vnto vs, yt we shulde not lust after euell thinges, as they lusted. 7 Nether be ye worshippers off ymages, as were some of them. Acordinge as it is wrytte: The people sat downe to eate and drynke, and rose vp to playe. 8 Nether let vs commytte whordome, as some of them comytted whordome, and fell in one daye thre & twenty thousande. 9 Nether let vs tempte Christ, as some of them tempted him, and were destroyed of serpetes. 10 Nether murmur ye, as some of them murmured, and were destroyed thorow the destroyer.
Heb 3:7-9 : 7 Wherfore, as ye holy goost sayeth: Todaye yf ye shal heare his voyce, 8 harden not youre hertes, as in the prouokynke in the daye of temptacion in the wyldernes, 9 where youre fathers tempted me, proued me, and sawe my workes fortye yeares longe. 10 Wherfore I was greued wt that generacion, and sayde: They erre euer in their hertes. But they knewe not my wayes,
Heb 3:16-19 : 16 For some whan they herde, prouoked. Howbeit not all they yt came out of Egipte by Moses. 17 But with whom was he displeased fortye yeares longe? Was he not displeased with them yt synned, whose carcases were ouerthrowne in ye wyldernesse? 18 To whom sware he, yt they shulde not enter in to his rest, but vnto the yt beleued not? 19 And we se yt they coulde not enter in because of vnbeleue.
Exod 16:2 : 2 And ye whole multitude of the children of Israel murmured agaynst Moses and Aaron in ye wildernes,
Exod 16:35 : 35 And the children of Israel ate man fourtye yeares, tyll they came vnto a lande, where people dwelt: euen vntyll they came to ye borders of the lande of Canaan ate they Man.
Num 14:22 : 22 For of all ye men that haue sene my glory & my tokens, which I dyd in Egipte and in the wildernesse, and tempted me new ten tymes, & haue not herkened vnto my voyce,
Num 14:33-34 : 33 and yor children shal wander in this wildernesse fourtye yeares, & beare yor whordome, tyll yor carcases be waisted in the wildernesse, 34 acordinge to the nombre of ye fourtye dayes, wherin ye spyed out the londe. A daye for a yeare, so yt fourtye yeares ye shall beare youre my?dede, that ye maye knowe what it is, whan I withdrawe my hande.
Deut 1:31 : 31 and in the wyldernesse: where thou sawest, that the LORDE thy God bare the (euen as a man beareth his sonne) thorow out all the waye that ye haue walked, tyll ye came to this place.
