Thus (o God) hast thou led thy people, to make thy self a glorious name with all.
- Jer 23:2-4 : 2 Wherfore, this is the comaundemet of the LORDE God of Israel, vnto the shepherdes that fede my people: Ye scatre ad thrust out my flocke, and loke not vpon them. Therfore, now will I vyset the wickednes of youre ymaginacions, saieth ye LORDE: 3 And will gather together the remnaunt of my flocke, from all londes that I had dryuen them vnto, and will bringe them agayne to their pastures, that they maye growe and increace. 4 I will set shepherdes also ouer them, which shall fede them. They shall nomore feare and drede, for there shall none off them be lost, saieth the LORDE
- Ezek 34:11-31 : 11 For thus saieth the LORDE God: Beholde, I will loke to my shepe myselff, and seke them. 12 Like as a shepherde amoge the flocke seketh after the shepe that are scatred abrode, euen so will I seke after my shepe, and gather them together out off all places, where they haue bene scatred in the cloudy and darcke daye. 13 I will bringe them out from all people, and gather them together out of all londes. I will bringe the in to their owne londe, and fede them vpon the mountaynes off Israel, by the ryuers, and in all the places of the countre. 14 I will fede them in right good pastures, and vpon the hie mountaynes off Israel shall there foldes be. There shal they lye in a good folde, ad in a fat pasture shall they fede: euen vpon the mountaynes of Israel. 15 I will fede my shepe myselff, and bringe them to their rest, sayeth the LORDE God. 16 Soch as be lost, will I seke: soch as go astraye, wil I brynge agayne: soch as be wouded, will I bynde vp: soch as be weake, will I make stronge: soch as be fat and well lykinge, those will I preserue, and fede them with ye thinge that is laufull. 17 And as for you (o my shepe) sayeth the LORDE God: I will put a difference amonge the shepe, amonge the wethers ad the goates. 18 Was it not ynough for you, to eat vp the good pasture, but ye must treade downe the residue of youre pasture wt youre fete also? Was it not ynough for you to drynke cleare water, but ye must trouble the residue also with youre fete? 19 Thus my shepe must be fayne to eate ye thinge, that ye haue troden downe with yor fete, and to drynke it, that ye with youre fete haue defyled. 20 Therfore, thus sayeth the LORDE God vnto them: Beholde, I will seuer the fat shepe from the leane: 21 for so moch as ye haue shot the weake shepe a po ye sydes & shulders, and runne vpon them with youre hornes, so longe till ye haue vtterly scatred them abrode. 22 I wil helpe my shepe, so yt they shal nomore be spoyled: yee I wil discerne one shepe from another. 23 I wil rayse vp vnto them one only shepherde: euen my seruaunt Dauid, he shal fede the, and he shal be their shepherde. 24 I the LORDE wil be their God, and my seruaunt Dauid shal be their prince: Euen I the LORDE haue spoken it. 25 Morouer, I wil make a couenaunt of peace with them, and dryue all euell beastes out of the londe: so that they maye dwell safely in the wildernesse, and slepe in the woddes. 26 Good fortune & prosperite wil I geue them, and vnto all that be rounde aboute my hill. A prosperous shower and rayne wil I sende them in due season, 27 that the trees in the wodde maye bringe forth their frutes, & ye grounde hir increase. They shalbe safe in their londe, and shal knowe, that I am the LORDE, which haue broke their yocke, and delyuered them out of the hondes of those, that helde them in subieccion. 28 They shal nomore be spoyled of the Heithen, ner deuoured with the beastes of the lode: but safely shal they dwell, & no man shall fraye them. 29 I wil set vp an excellet plate for them, so yt they shal suffre no more hunger in the londe, nether beare the reprofe of ye Heithen eny more. 30 Thus shal they vnderstonde, that I the LORDE their God am wt them, & yt they (euen the house of Israel) are my people, saieth the LORDE God. 31 Ye men are my flocke, ye are the shepe of my pasture: and I am youre God, saieth the LORDE God.
- Luke 15:4-6 : 4 What man is he amonge you, that hath an hundreth shepe, and yf he loose one of the, that leaueth not the nyne and nyentye in the wyldernesse, and goeth after that which is lost tyll he fynde it? 5 And whan he hath founde it, he layeth it vpon his shulders with ioye: 6 and whan he commeth home, he calleth his fredes and neghbours, and sayeth vnto the: Reioyce with me, for I haue founde my shepe, yt was lost.
- John 10:11-42 : 11 I am a good shepherde. A good shepherde geueth his life for the shepe. 12 But an hyred seruaunt, which is not the shepherde, nether the shepe are his awne, seyth ye wolfe comynge, and leaueth ye shepe, and flyeth. And the wolfe catcheth & scatereth ye shepe. 13 But the hyred seruaut flyeth, because he is an hyred seruaunte, and careth not for the shepe. 14 I am a good sheperde, and knowe myne, and am knowne of myne. 15 Eue as my father knoweth me, and I knowe ye father. And I geue my life for my shepe. 16 And I haue yet other shepe, which are not of this folde, and those same must I brynge also, and they shal heare my voyce, and there shalbe one flocke and one shepherde. 17 Therfore doth my father loue me, because I leaue my life, that I maye take it agayue. 18 Noma taketh it fro me, but I leaue it of myself. I haue power to leaue it, and haue power to take it agayne. This commaundement haue I receaued of my father. 19 Then was there discension amoge the Iewes for these sayenges. 20 Many of the sayde: He hath the deuell, and is madd, why heare ye him? 21 Other sayde: These are not wordes of one that is possessed. Can the deuell also open ye eyes of the blynde? 22 It was the dedicacion of the teple at Ierusale, & was wynter, 23 and Iesus walked in Salomos porche. 24 The came ye Iewes rounde aboute hi, & saide vnto hi: How loge dost thou make vs doute? Yf thou be Christ, tell vs planely. 25 Iesus answered the: I tolde you, & ye beleue not. The workes yt I do in my fathers name, they beare wytnesse of me. 26 But ye beleue not, because ye are not of my shepe as I sayde vnto you. 27 My shepe heare my voyce, & I knowe the, & they folowe me. 28 And I geue the euerlastinge life, & they shal neuer perishe, and noma shal plucke the out of my hande. 29 My father which gaue the me, is greater the all: & noman is able to plucke them out of my fathers hande. 30 I and the father are one. 31 Then the Iewes toke vp stones agayne, to stone him. 32 Iesus answered the: Many good workes haue I shewed you fro my father, for which of the stone ye me? 33 The Iewes answered hi, and sayde: For the good worke sake we stone the not, but for the blasphemy: and because yt thou beynge a man, makest thyself God. 34 Iesus answered the: Is it not wrytten in youre lawe: I haue sayde, Ye are Goddes? 35 Yf he call them Goddes, vnto whom the worde of God came (& the scripture can not be broke) 36 saye ye the vnto hi, who ye father hath sanctified & sent in to ye worlde: thou blasphemest God, because I sayde: I am ye sonne of God? 37 Yf I do not ye workes of my father, beleue me not: 38 but yf I do the, the (yf ye beleue not me) yet beleue ye workes, yt ye maye knowe & beleue, yt the father is in me, & I in ye father. 39 They wente aboute agayne to take him, but he escaped out of their hades, 40 and wete awaye agayne beyode Iordane, into ye place where Iho had baptysed before, & there he abode. 41 And many came to hi, and sayde: Iho dyd no tokes, but all yt Ihon spake of this man, is true. 42 And many beleued on him there.
