And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times, and shake myself free. But he knew not that Jehovah was departed from him.

  • 23 Then when the copy of king Artaxerxes' letter was read before Rehum, and Shimshai the scribe, and their companions, they went in haste to Jerusalem unto the Jews, and made them to cease by force and power.

  • 16 And the rulers knew not whither I went, or what I did; neither had I as yet told it to the Jews, nor to the priests, nor to the nobles, nor to the rulers, nor to the rest that did the work.

  • 4 Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building,

  • 19 Also they spake of his good deeds before me, and reported my words to him. [And] Tobiah sent letters to put me in fear.

  • 4 Hear, O our God; for we are despised: and turn back their reproach upon their own head, and give them up for a spoil in a land of captivity;

  • 9 And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

  • 7 Moreover I said unto the king, If it please the king, let letters be given me to the governors beyond the River, that they may let me pass through till I come unto Judah;

  • 4 Then the king said unto me, For what dost thou make request? So I prayed to the God of heaven.

  • 8 Then I sent unto him, saying, There are no such things done as thou sayest, but thou feignest them out of thine own heart.

  • 11 And thus they returned us answer, saying, We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and are building the house that was builded these many years ago, which a great king of Israel builded and finished.
