David inquired of God, saying, "Should I go up against the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hand?" The LORD replied, "Go up, and I will deliver them into your hand."

David drog opp til Ba'al-Perasim, hvor han slo dem, og han sa: "Gud har brutt gjennom mine fiender ved min hånd som gjennombrudd av vann." Derfor ble stedet kalt Ba'al-Perasim.

So they went up to Baal-perazim, and there David defeated the Philistines. He said, "God has broken through my enemies by my hand, like a flood of water." Therefore, the place was named Baal-perazim.

David did as God commanded him, and they struck down the Philistine army from Gibeon to Gezer.

So David’s fame spread throughout the lands, and the LORD caused all the nations to fear him.
