Verse 1

De brakte Guds ark og satte det midt i teltet som David hadde reist for det, og de bar fram brennoffer og fredsoffer for Gud.

They brought the ark of God and placed it inside the tent that David had set up for it, and they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before God.

Verse 2

Da David hadde fullført ofringen av brennofrene og fredsofrene, velsignet han folket i Herrens navn.

When David had finished offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD.

Verse 3

Han delte ut til hvert menneske i Israel, både mann og kvinne, et brød, en porsjon kjøtt og en rosinkake.

He distributed to every person of Israel, both men and women, a loaf of bread, a portion of meat, and a cake of raisins.

Verse 4

Deretter satte han av noen levitter foran Herrens ark for å tjene, for å minne om, gi takk og lovprise Herren, Israels Gud.

David appointed Levites to serve before the ark of the LORD, to commemorate, to give thanks, and to praise the LORD, the God of Israel.

Verse 5

Det var Asaf som var lederen, og etter ham kom Sakarja, Jeiel, Semiramot, Jehiel, Mattitja, Eliab, Benaia, Obed-Edom og Jeiel. De skulle spille på harper og lyrer, mens Asaf skulle spille på cymbaler.

Asaph was the chief, with Zechariah as his assistant, along with Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-edom, and Jeiel. They played harps and lyres, while Asaph sounded the cymbals.

Verse 6

Benaia og Jahasiel, prestene, skulle blåse i trompeter hele tiden foran Guds paktsark.

Benaiah and Jahaziel, the priests, blew the trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of God.

Verse 7

Den dagen bestemte David for første gang at Asaf og hans brødre skulle gi takk til Herren.

On that day, David first gave Asaph and his brothers the task of singing praise to the LORD.

Verse 8

Takk Herren, påkall hans navn, gjør hans gjerninger kjent blant folkene.

Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make his deeds known among the peoples.

Verse 9

Syng for ham, lovsyng ham, tal om alle hans under.

Sing to him, sing praises to him; meditate on all his wonderful works.

Verse 10

Rop av glede over hans hellige navn! La hjertene til dem som søker Herren, glede seg.

Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.

Verse 11

Søk Herren og hans kraft, søk alltid hans ansikt.

Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually.

Verse 12

Husk hans mektige gjerninger som han har gjort, hans under og hans munns dommer.

Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he has pronounced.

Verse 13

Dere som er Abrahams, hans tjeners, ætt. Dere som er Jakobs, hans utvalgtes, barn.

You descendants of Israel, his servant, you children of Jacob, his chosen ones.

Verse 14

Han er Herren vår Gud. Hans dommer er over hele jorden.

He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth.

Verse 15

Husk hans pakt til evig tid, ordet som han befalte til tusen slektsledd,

Remember his covenant forever, the word he commanded for a thousand generations.

Verse 16

paktens ord som han sluttet med Abraham, og hans ed til Isak.

The covenant he made with Abraham, and the oath he swore to Isaac.

Verse 17

Han bekreftet den for Jakob som en lov, for Israel som en evig pakt,

He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as an everlasting covenant.

Verse 18

da han sa: "Til deg vil jeg gi Kanaans land som en del av deres arv."

He said, "To you I will give the land of Canaan as the portion of your inheritance."

Verse 19

Da dere var få i tall, få og fremmede der inne,

When you were few in number, a small group of strangers in the land,

Verse 20

og dro fra folk til folk, fra ett rike til et annet,

they wandered from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another.

Verse 21

tillot han ingen å undertrykke dem, men han straffet konger for deres skyld.

He did not allow anyone to oppress them; for their sake, he rebuked kings,

Verse 22

"Rør ikke mine salvede, gjør ikke mine profeter noe ondt!"

"Do not touch my anointed ones, and do not harm my prophets."

Verse 23

Syng for Herren, hele jorden, forkynn hans frelse fra dag til dag!

Sing to the LORD, all the earth; proclaim his salvation day after day.

Verse 24

Fortell om hans herlighet blant folkene, hans under blant alle folkeslag.

Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.

Verse 25

For stor er Herren og høylovet. Fryktelig er han over alle guder.

For great is the LORD and greatly to be praised; he is to be revered above all gods.

Verse 26

For alle folkens guder er avguder, men Herren skapte himmelen.

For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the LORD made the heavens.

Verse 27

Ære og herlighet er for hans ansikt, styrke og glede er i hans sted.

Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy are in his dwelling.

Verse 28

Gi Herren, dere folkeslag fra folkene, gi Herren ære og styrke!

Ascribe to the LORD, families of the nations, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.

Verse 29

Gi Herren den ære hans navn har krav på, bær en gave og kom for hans ansikt, tilbed Herren i hellig prakt!

Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering and come before him. Worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness.

Verse 30

Skjelv for ham, hele jorden, for han har fast grunnlagt verden, så den ikke rokkes.

Tremble before him, all the earth! The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved.

Verse 31

La himlene glede seg, og la jorden fryde seg, og la dem si blant folkene: "Herren er konge!"

Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let them say among the nations, "The LORD reigns!"

Verse 32

La havet bruse og alt som fyller det. La marken juble og alt som er der.

Let the sea resound and everything in it; let the fields be joyful and everything in them.

Verse 33

Da skal skogens trær rope av glede for Herrens ansikt, for han kommer for å dømme jorden.

Then the trees of the forest will sing for joy before the LORD, for he comes to judge the earth.

Verse 34

Takk Herren, for han er god, hans miskunn varer evig.

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his steadfast love endures forever.

Verse 35

Og si: "Frels oss, vår frelses Gud. Samle og fri oss fra folkene, så vi kan takke ditt hellige navn og prise din herlighet."

And say, "Save us, O God of our salvation, gather us and deliver us from the nations, so that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise."

Verse 36

Velsignet være Herren, Israels Gud, fra evighet til evighet. Og hele folket sa: "Amen!" og priste Herren.

Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting! Then all the people said, "Amen" and praised the LORD.

Verse 37

Så lot han Asaf og hans brødre være igjen der foran Herrens paktsark for å tjene foran arken, slik det var bestemt for hver dag.

David left Asaph and his relatives there before the ark of the LORD’s covenant to minister regularly by following the daily requirements.

Verse 38

Og med dem Obed-Edom og hans sekstiåtte brødre. Obed-Edom, sønn av Jedutun, og Hosah var portvakter.

Obed-edom and his relatives, totaling sixty-eight, were also assigned, with Obed-edom son of Jeduthun and Hosah serving as gatekeepers.

Verse 39

Zadok, presten, og hans brødre, prestene, var foran Herrens bolig i høyden i Gibeon,

Zadok the priest and his fellow priests were stationed before the tabernacle of the LORD at the high place in Gibeon.

Verse 40

for å frembære offer til Herren på brennofferalteret som var kontinuerlig om morgenen og om kvelden, etter alt som er skrevet i Herrens lov som han befalte Israel.

They were to continually offer burnt offerings to the LORD on the altar of burnt offering, morning and evening, according to all that is written in the law of the LORD, which he commanded for Israel.

Verse 41

Og med dem Heman og Jedutun, og resten av dem som var utvalgt, navnene nevnt, for å takke Herren, for hans nåde varer evig.

Heman, Jeduthun, and the rest of those chosen were designated by name to give thanks to the LORD, for his steadfast love endures forever.

Verse 42

Heman og Jedutun hadde trompeter og cymbaler for å lyde, og musikkinstrumenter for Gud. Jedutuns sønner var portvakter.

Heman and Jeduthun were in charge of the trumpets, cymbals, and other musical instruments for worship of God. Jeduthun’s sons were assigned to the gates.

Verse 43

Da dro hele folket hver til sitt hus, og David vendte tilbake for å velsigne sitt hus.

Then all the people departed, each to his house, and David returned to bless his own household.
