David og hærens ledere satte til side Asafs, Hemans og Jedutuns sønner for tjeneste — de som profeterte med harper, lyre og cymbaler. Antallet av dem som utførte tjenesten var:

David, along with the army leaders, set apart the sons of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun for the work of prophesying, using harps, lyres, and cymbals. Their work and number of those engaged in this service were recorded.

Asafs sønner: Sakkur, Josef, Netanja og Asarela, under ledelse av Asaf, som profeterte etter kongens anvisninger.

From the sons of Asaph: Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asarelah. These sons of Asaph were under the direction of Asaph, who prophesied under the guidance of the king.

Jedutuns sønner: Gedalja, Seri, Jesaja, Hasjabja og Mattitja — seks i alt under ledelse av deres far Jedutun som profeterte med harpen til lov og pris for Herren.

From Jeduthun: the sons of Jeduthun were Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, Mattithiah—six in total. They were under the direction of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with the harp, giving thanks and praising the LORD.

Hemans sønner: Bukkia, Mattanja, Ussiel, Sjubael, Jerimot, Hananja, Hanani, Eliata, Giddalti, Romamti-Ezer, Josjbekasja, Malloti, Hotir og Mahasiot.

From Heman: the sons of Heman were Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, Romamti-Ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth.

Alle disse var Hemans sønner, kongens seer i Guds ord for å opphøye hornet. Gud ga Hemans fjorten sønner og tre døtre.

All these were the sons of Heman, the king's seer, who was entrusted with the words of God to exalt his power. God gave Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.

Alle disse var under deres fars ledelse i sangen i Herrens hus med cymbaler, lyre og harper for tjenesten i Guds hus, under kongens ledelse sammen med Asaf, Jedutun og Heman.

All these men were under their father's direction for the music in the house of the LORD, with cymbals, lyres, and harps for the service of the house of God. They were under the direction of the king, Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman.

Med deres brødre ble de opplært i sang for Herren, alle som var dyktige — to hundre og åtti åtte i tallet.

The number of them, along with their relatives, all trained and skilled in music for the LORD, was 288.
