Verse 1

So all the work that Solomon did for the temple of the LORD was completed. Then Solomon brought in the holy items dedicated by his father David— the silver, the gold, and all the furnishings—and he placed them in the treasuries of the house of God.

Verse 2

Then Solomon gathered the elders of Israel, the leaders of the tribes, and the chiefs of the ancestral families of the Israelites in Jerusalem to bring up the Ark of the Covenant of the LORD from the City of David, which is Zion.

Verse 3

All the men of Israel came together before the king at the festival in the seventh month.

Verse 4

When all the elders of Israel arrived, the Levites lifted the ark.

Verse 5

They brought up the Ark, the tent of meeting, and all the holy items that were in the tent. The priests and Levites carried them.

Verse 6

King Solomon and the whole assembly of Israel who had gathered around him before the Ark were sacrificing so many sheep and cattle that they could not be counted or numbered.

Verse 7

The priests brought the Ark of the Covenant of the LORD to its place, into the inner sanctuary of the temple, the Most Holy Place, and placed it beneath the wings of the cherubim.

Verse 8

The cherubim spread their wings over the place of the ark and covered the ark and its poles from above.

Verse 9

The poles were so long that their ends could be seen from the Holy Place in front of the inner sanctuary, but they could not be seen from the outside. They remain there to this day.

Verse 10

There was nothing in the Ark except the two tablets Moses had placed in it at Horeb, where the LORD made a covenant with the Israelites after they came out of Egypt.

Verse 11

When the priests came out of the holy place, for all the priests who were present had consecrated themselves without regard to their divisions,

Verse 12

And all the Levites who were singers—Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun, their sons, and their relatives—stood on the east side of the altar, dressed in fine linen and playing cymbals, harps, and lyres. They were accompanied by 120 priests who were blowing trumpets.

Verse 13

The trumpeters and singers joined in unison to give praise and thanks to the LORD. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals, and other instruments, they raised their voices in praise to the LORD and sang: 'He is good; His love endures forever.' Then the temple, the house of the LORD, was filled with a cloud,

Verse 14

and the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the LORD filled the house of God.
