Hear this word that the Lord has spoken against you, O people of Israel, against the whole family that I brought up from the land of Egypt:

Bare dere har jeg kjent blant alle jordens familier; derfor vil jeg hjemsøke dere for alle deres misgjerninger.

You only have I known among all the families of the earth; therefore, I will punish you for all your iniquities.

Vandrer to sammen uten at de er enige?

Can two walk together unless they have agreed to meet?

Brøler en løve i skogen uten at den har bytte? Gir en ung løve lyd fra sitt hi uten at den har fanget noe?

Does a lion roar in the forest if it has no prey? Does a young lion growl from its den unless it has caught something?

Faller en fugl i en felle på jorden uten en snare for det? Stiger en felle opp fra bakken uten at noe er fanget?

Does a bird fall into a trap on the ground when there is no bait for it? Does a trap spring up from the earth when it has caught nothing?

Blåses det i en basun i en by uten at folket blir skremt? Kommer det en ulykke i en by uten at Herren har forårsaket det?

Is a trumpet blown in a city, and the people are not afraid? Does disaster come to a city unless the Lord has done it?

For Herren Gud gjør ingenting uten å avsløre sitt råd til sine tjenere, profetene.

Surely the Lord God does nothing without revealing His secret to His servants, the prophets.

Løven har brølt, hvem skal ikke frykte? Herren Gud har talt, hvem kan annet enn å profetere?

The lion has roared; who will not fear? The Lord God has spoken; who can but prophesy?

Kunngjør over palassene i Ashdod og over palassene i Egyptens land; og si: Samle dere på Samarias fjell, og se de mange forvirringer inne i henne og de undertrykte i hennes midte.

Proclaim to the strongholds in Ashdod and to the strongholds in the land of Egypt: "Assemble yourselves on the mountains of Samaria, and see the great tumults within her and the oppression among her people."

De vet ikke å handle rett, sier Herren, de som lagrer vold og rov i sine palasser.

"They do not know how to do what is right," declares the Lord, "storing up violence and robbery in their fortresses."

Derfor sier Herren Gud: En fiende skal omringe landet og dra din styrke ned, og dine palasser skal plyndres.

Therefore, this is what the Lord God says: "An enemy will surround the land, bring down your strength, and plunder your fortresses."

Så sier Herren: Som hyrden river ut av løvens munn to ben eller et stykke av et øre, slik skal Israels barn frelses, de som sitter i Samaria, i hjørnet av en seng og på Damaskus' divaner.

This is what the Lord says: Just as a shepherd rescues from the mouth of a lion two legs or a piece of an ear, so will the Israelites who dwell in Samaria be rescued, with only the corner of a bed or a piece of a couch.

Hør og vitne mot Jakobs hus, sier Herren Gud, himmelens hærskare.

Listen and testify against the house of Jacob,” declares the Lord God, the God of hosts.

På den dag skal jeg hjemsøke Israels misgjerninger over ham, og jeg skal hjemsøke Betels altre; alterets horn skal kuttes av og falle til jorden.

For on the day I punish Israel for their transgressions, I will also punish the altars of Bethel, and the horns of the altar will be cut off and fall to the ground.

Jeg vil slå vinterhuset sammen med sommerhuset, elfenben husene skal gå til grunne, og mange hus skal gå til grunne, sier Herren.

I will strike down the winter house along with the summer house, and the houses of ivory will perish, and the great houses will come to an end,” declares the Lord.
