Jeg så Herren stå ved alteret. Han sa: 'Slå på søyletoppen så dørtersklene ryster og klippene faller ned over alles hoder. Alle vil jeg drepe med sverdet. Ingen som prøver å flykte skal komme unna, og ingen som prøver å unnslippe skal klare det.

I saw the Lord standing by the altar, and He said, 'Strike the capitals so that the thresholds shake, and shatter them on the heads of all the people. Those who survive I will kill with the sword; not one of them will flee, not a single one will escape.'

Om de graver seg ned til dødsriket, skal min hånd ta dem derfra; om de stiger opp til himmelen, skal jeg dra dem ned.

'If they dig down to the depths of Sheol, from there My hand will take them. If they climb up to the heavens, from there I will bring them down.'

Om de gjemmer seg på toppen av Karmel-fjellet, vil jeg lete opp og hente dem derfra; om de skjuler seg for mine øyne på havbunnen, vil jeg befale slangen å bite dem der.

'If they hide themselves on the top of Mount Carmel, from there I will search them out and seize them. If they conceal themselves from My sight on the floor of the sea, there I will command the serpent, and it will bite them.'

Om de går i fangenskap foran sine fiender, vil jeg befale sverdet å drepe dem der; jeg vil rette mine øyne mot dem til det onde, ikke til det gode.

'If they go into captivity before their enemies, from there I will command the sword to kill them. I will set My eyes on them for harm and not for good.'

Herren, hærskarenes Gud, rører ved jorden så den smelter, og alle som bor der sørger; den stiger som Nilen, og synker som Egypts flod.

The Lord, the God of Hosts, touches the earth and it melts, and all who dwell in it mourn. The entire land rises like the Nile and then sinks like the Nile of Egypt.

Han som bygger sine saler i himmelen og festet sitt hvelv over jorden, han som kaller på vannene fra havet og øser dem over jorden, Herren er hans navn.

He builds His chambers in the heavens and establishes His vault upon the earth. He summons the waters of the sea and pours them out on the face of the earth—the Lord is His name.

Er dere ikke for meg som Kusj-sønnene, israelitter, sier Herren? Jeg som førte Israel opp fra Egypt, førte erobringsfolkene fra Kaftor og Aram fra Kir.

'Are you not like the Cushites to Me, O people of Israel?' declares the Lord. 'Did I not bring Israel up from the land of Egypt, the Philistines from Caphtor, and the Arameans from Kir?'

Se, Herrens øyne er rettet mot det syndige riket. Jeg vil utslette det fra jordens overflate, men ikke helt ødelegge Jakobs hus, sier Herren.

'Behold, the eyes of the Lord God are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from the face of the earth. Yet, I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob,' declares the Lord.

Se, jeg vil befale og riste Israels hus blant alle nasjonene, som man siler korn i en sil uten at en stein faller ned på jorden.

For behold, I am giving the command, and I will shake the house of Israel among all the nations as one shakes a sieve, but not a single pebble shall fall to the ground.

Med sverd skal alle syndere blant mitt folk dø, de som sier: 'Ondskap kommer ikke nær oss, ikke rammer det oss.'

All the sinners of My people will die by the sword, those who say, 'Disaster shall not overtake or confront us.'

Den dagen skal jeg gjenreise Davids falne hytte. Jeg skal tette igjen sprekkene og gjenoppbygge ruinene, og jeg skal gjenreise den som i gamle dager.

On that day, I will raise up the fallen booth of David. I will repair its breaches and restore its ruins, and I will rebuild it as it was in days of old.

Så de kan ta i eie de som er blitt igjen i Edom, og alle folkeslagene som kaller mitt navn over seg, sier Herren som gjør dette.

So that they may possess the remnant of Edom and all the nations who are called by My name, declares the Lord who does this.

Se, dager kommer, sier Herren, da pløyeren når igjen treskeren og druepresseren, når såmannen, og fjellene skal dryppe av ny vin, og alle åsene skal smelte.

Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when the plowman will overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes the one sowing seed. The mountains will drip with sweet wine, and all the hills will flow with it.

Jeg vil vende Israels folks skjebne, de skal bygge opp igjen de ødelagte byene og bo i dem, plante vingårder og drikke vinen fra dem, lage hager og spise frukten av dem.

I will restore My people Israel from captivity. They will rebuild desolate cities and inhabit them. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine. They will make gardens and eat their fruit.

Jeg vil plante dem i deres land, og de skal aldri mer bli rykket opp fra det landet jeg har gitt dem, sier Herren din Gud.

I will plant them upon their land, and they will never again be uprooted from the land I have given them, says the Lord your God.
