Herrens ord kom til meg, og det lød:

The word of the LORD came to me, saying:

Son of man, set your face against Gog of the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him.

Og si: Så sier Herren Gud: Se, jeg er imot deg, Gog, hovedfyrste i Mesjek og Tubal.

Say, ‘This is what the Lord GOD says: Behold, I am against you, Gog, chief prince of Meshech and Tubal.

Jeg vil vende deg om, sette kroker i dine kjever og føre deg ut med hele din hær, hester og ryttere, kledd i praktfull rustning, en stor mengde med små og store skjold, alle bevæpnet med sverd.

I will turn you around, put hooks in your jaws, and bring you out with your whole army—your horses, horsemen fully armed, and a great horde with large and small shields, all of them wielding swords.

Persia, Kusj og Put vil være med dem, alle med skjold og hjelm.

Persia, Cush, and Put will be with them, all of them with shields and helmets.

Gomer med alle sine hærer, Togarmas hus fra det ytterste nord med alle sine hærer, mange folkeslag er med deg.

Gomer and all its troops, the house of Togarmah from the far north with all its troops, and many nations with you.

Forbered deg og gjør deg klar, du og alle folkeslagene som er samlet hos deg, og bli deres vokter.

Prepare yourself and be ready, you and all your company gathered around you, and you will be their commander.

Etter mange dager skal du bli kalt til tjeneste; i de siste dager skal du komme til et land som har gjenopprettet seg fra krig, samlet fra mange folkeslag på Israels fjell, som lenge har ligget øde. De ble ført ut fra folkeslagene, og nå bor de trygt.

After many days, you will be called to attention. In the latter years, you will go against a land that has been brought back from the sword and gathered from many peoples upon the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate. Its people were brought out from the nations, and now they dwell securely, all of them.

Du skal komme opp som en storm, som en sky for å dekke landet, du og alle dine tropper og mange folkeslag med deg.

You will ascend, coming like a storm; you will be like a cloud covering the land—you and all your troops and the many peoples with you.

Så sier Herren Gud: Den dagen skal tanker komme opp i ditt hjerte, og du skal legge opp onde planer.

This is what the Lord GOD says: On that day, thoughts will arise in your heart, and you will devise an evil plan.

Du skal si: Jeg vil gå opp mot et land med åpne landsbyer; jeg vil gå mot de fredelige og trygge, som bor uten murer, bommer eller porter.

You will say, ‘I will go up against a land of unwalled villages; I will attack peaceful people who live securely—all of them living without walls, without gates and bars.’

For å rane bytte og ta rov, for å vende din hånd mot øde steder som nå er bebodde, og mot et folk samlet fra folkeslag, som driver kveg og erverver seg rikdommer, som bor i landets midte.

You will come to seize spoil and carry off plunder, to turn your hand against resettled ruins and against a people gathered from the nations, people acquiring livestock and goods, who live at the center of the land.

Saba og Dedan og handelsmennene fra Tarsis med alle deres unge løver skal si til deg: 'Kommer du for å rane bytte? Har du samlet din hær for å ta rov, for å bortføre sølv og gull, ta kveg og eiendeler, for å rane stort bytte?'

Sheba, Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish with all their young lions will say to you: ‘Have you come to seize spoil? Have you gathered your hordes to carry off silver and gold, to take away livestock and possessions, to make off with great plunder?’

Derfor, profeter, menneskesønn, og si til Gog: Så sier Herren Gud: På den dagen, når mitt folk Israel bor trygt, skal du vite om det.

Therefore, prophesy, son of man, and say to Gog: ‘This is what the Lord GOD says: On that day when my people Israel are living securely, will you not be aware of it?

Da skal du komme fra ditt sted langt nordfra, du og mange folkeslag med deg, alle ridende på hester, en stor skare og en mektig hær.

You will come from your place out of the far north—you and many peoples with you, all riding on horses, a great assembly and a mighty army.

Du skal dra opp mot mitt folk Israel som en sky for å dekke landet. I de siste dager skal det skje at jeg fører deg mot mitt land, for at folkeslagene skal kjenne meg når jeg helliger meg gjennom deg for deres øyne, Gog.

You will advance against my people Israel like a cloud covering the land. In the latter days I will bring you against my land so that the nations may know me, as I show myself holy through you before their eyes, O Gog.

Så sier Herren Gud: Er du den som jeg talte om i gamle dager ved mine tjenere, Israels profeter, som profeterte i de dagene i årevis, at jeg ville føre deg mot dem?

This is what the Lord GOD says: Are you the one I spoke of in former days through my servants the prophets of Israel? At that time, they prophesied for years that I would bring you against them.

Det skal skje på den dagen, når Gog kommer mot Israels land, sier Herren Gud, at min harme skal oppstå i min vrede.

On that day, when Gog comes against the land of Israel, declares the Lord GOD, my fury will rise up in my face.

I min nidkjærhet, i min brennende vrede, har jeg talt: Sannelig, på den dagen skal det være et stort jordskjelv i Israels land.

In my zeal and fiery wrath I declare: On that day, there will be a great earthquake in the land of Israel.

Da skal havets fisker, himmelens fugler, markens dyr, alle kryp som rører seg på jorden, og alle mennesker på jordens overflate skjelve for meg. Fjellene skal styrte sammen, klippene falle og alle murer skal rase til jorden.

The fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the animals of the field, every creature that moves along the ground, and all the people on the face of the earth will tremble at my presence. The mountains will be overturned, the cliffs will crumble, and every wall will fall to the ground.

Jeg vil kalle sverdet mot ham på alle mine fjell, sier Herren Gud. Menneskets sverd skal vendes mot hans bror.

I will call for a sword against him on all my mountains, declares the Lord GOD. The sword of every man will be against his brother.

Jeg vil dømme ham med pest og blod, og strømmende regn og store haglsteiner, ild og svovel, vil jeg regne ned over ham, over hans tropper og over mange folkeslag som er med ham.

I will execute judgment upon him with plague and bloodshed. I will pour down torrential rain, hailstones, fire, and brimstone on him and on his troops and on the many peoples with him.

Jeg vil opphøye og hellige meg, og la meg bli kjent for mange folkeslags øyne. Da skal de vite at jeg er Herren.

Thus I will show my greatness and my holiness, and I will make myself known in the sight of many nations. Then they will know that I am the LORD.
