Verse 1

En bønn av profeten Habakkuk etter Shigionot.

A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet, according to Shigionoth.

Verse 2

Herre, i dine gjerningers tid, hold dem i live; i dine gjerningers tid, la det bli kjent; i din vrede, husk barmhjertighet.

LORD, I have heard of Your fame and stand in awe of Your deeds. LORD, revive Your work in the midst of the years; in the midst of the years, make it known; in wrath, remember mercy.

Verse 3

God came from Teman, and the Holy One from Mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and His praise filled the earth.

Verse 4

His radiance was like sunlight; rays flashed from His hand, where His power was hidden.

Verse 5

Plague went before Him, and pestilence followed His steps.

Verse 6

He stood and shook the earth; He looked and startled the nations. The ancient mountains crumbled; the everlasting hills sank low. His ways are eternal.

Verse 7

I saw the tents of Cushan in distress; the dwellings of Midian trembled.

Verse 8

Was the LORD angry with the rivers? Was Your wrath against the streams? Was Your rage against the sea when You rode with Your horses, Your victorious chariots?

Verse 9

Du blottet din bue, sverdenes eder ble oppfylt. Selah. Med elvene kløvde du jorden.

You uncovered Your bow; you called for many arrows. Selah. You split the earth with rivers.

Verse 10

The mountains saw You and writhed. Torrents of water swept by; the deep roared and lifted its hands high.

Verse 11

The sun and moon stood still in their places at the light of Your arrows as they flew, at the flash of Your shining spear.

Verse 12

I vrede skrittet du over jorden, i vrede tråkket du nasjonene ned.

In wrath You marched through the earth; in anger You threshed the nations.

Verse 13

Du gikk ut for å frelse ditt folk, for å frelse din salvede. Selah.

You went out for the salvation of Your people, for the salvation of Your anointed. You crushed the head of the house of the wicked, stripping it from foundation to neck. Selah.

Verse 14

With his own weapons You pierced the heads of his warriors, who came like a storm to scatter me, gloating as though ready to devour the afflicted in secret.

Verse 15

You trampled the sea with Your horses, churning the great waters.

Verse 16

I heard, and my heart pounded; my lips quivered at the sound. Decay crept into my bones, and I trembled where I stood. Yet I will wait patiently for the day of calamity to come upon the nation invading us.

Verse 17

Though the fig tree does not blossom and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though the sheep are cut off from the fold and there are no cattle in the stalls,

Verse 18

Men jeg vil fryde meg i Herren, jeg vil glede meg i Gud, min frelser.

yet I will exult in the LORD; I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.

Verse 19

The Sovereign LORD is my strength; He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; He makes me tread on the heights. For the choir director, on my stringed instruments.
