at that time, the LORD spoke through Isaiah son of Amoz, saying, 'Go, untie the sackcloth from around your waist and remove the sandals from your feet.' And he did so, walking around naked and barefoot.

Da sa Herren: "Som min tjener Jesaja har gått naken og barføtt i tre år, som et tegn og et varsel mot Egypt og Kusj,

Then the LORD said, 'Just as my servant Isaiah has walked around naked and barefoot for three years as a sign and a warning against Egypt and Cush,'

slik vil kongen av Assyria føre bort fangene fra Egypt og de bortførte fra Kusj, både unge og gamle, nakne og barføtte, med blottede bakdeler, til skam for Egypt.

'so will the king of Assyria lead away the captives of Egypt and the exiles of Cush—young and old—naked and barefoot, with their buttocks exposed, bringing shame to Egypt.'

Da skal de bli skremt og beskjemmet over Kusj, sin tillit, og Egypt, sin stolthet.

Then they will be dismayed and ashamed because of Cush, their hope, and Egypt, their pride.

Den dagen skal innbyggerne på denne kysten si: 'Se, slik er vårt håp, der vi søkte hjelp for å unnslippe kongen av Assyria. Hvordan kan vi da slippe unna?'"

On that day, the inhabitants of this coastland will say, 'See what has happened to those we relied on for help and deliverance from the king of Assyria! How then can we escape?'
