In the seventh month, Ishmael son of Nethaniah, son of Elishama, from the royal family, along with some of the king's officials and ten men with him, came to Gedaliah son of Ahikam at Mizpah and ate a meal together there.

Then Johanan son of Kareah and all the army commanders with him took all the remnant of the people whom he had rescued from Ishmael son of Nethaniah after Ishmael had killed Gedaliah son of Ahikam—this included soldiers, women, children, and eunuchs, whom Johanan brought back from Gibeon.
