Dette er et utsagn fra Herrens ord om Israel. Sier Herren, som utstrekker himmelen og grunnlegger jorden og former menneskets ånd i dets indre.

This is the Lord’s message concerning Israel. The Lord, who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit within humans, declares this:

Se, jeg gjør Jerusalem til et beger som forårsaker svimmelhet for alle folkene rundt. Også over Juda vil beleiringen komme mot Jerusalem.

Behold, I am making Jerusalem a cup of reeling for all the surrounding nations. Even Judah will be besieged as Jerusalem is attacked.

Den dagen skal jeg gjøre Jerusalem til en tung stein for alle folkeslagene. Alle som løfter den vil bli hardt såret, og alle jordens nasjoner skal samle seg mot henne.

And on that day, I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples. All who try to lift it will be severely injured, and all the nations of the earth will gather against her.

Den dagen, sier Herren, vil jeg slå alle hester med forvirring og rytterne med galskap. Men over Judas hus vil jeg åpne mine øyne, og alle folkets hester skal jeg slå med blindhet.

On that day,” declares the Lord, “I will strike every horse with panic and its rider with madness. But I will watch over the house of Judah, while I strike every horse of the nations with blindness.

Deretter skal Judas ledere si i sitt hjerte: Folket i Jerusalem har sin styrke i Herren, hærskarenes Gud.

Then the leaders of Judah will say in their hearts, ‘The inhabitants of Jerusalem are our strength in the Lord Almighty, their God.’

Den dagen vil jeg gjøre Judas ledere som et ildkar i en vedstabel, som et flammetegn blant halm. De vil fortære høyre og venstre alle folkene rundt, og Jerusalem skal igjen bo på sitt eget sted, i Jerusalem.

On that day I will make the leaders of Judah like a fire pot in a woodpile and like a flaming torch among sheaves. They will consume all the surrounding peoples on the right and on the left, while Jerusalem will remain secure in her place.

Herren vil først redde Judas telt for at Davids hus' herlighet og Jerusalems innbyggeres herlighet ikke skal bli stor overfor Juda.

The Lord will save the dwellings of Judah first, so that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem will not exceed that of Judah.

Den dagen vil Herren beskytte Jerusalems innbyggere. Den svakeste blant dem den dagen vil være som David, og Davids hus vil være som Gud, lik Herrens engel foran dem.

On that day, the Lord will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem. The weakest among them will be like David, and the house of David will be like God, like the angel of the Lord going before them.

Den dagen vil jeg søke å ødelegge alle folkene som kommer mot Jerusalem.

On that day, I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

Jeg vil utøse nådens og bønnens ånd over Davids hus og Jerusalems innbyggere. De skal se på meg, han som de har såret, og sørge over ham som over en enbåren sønn, klage over ham som man klager over en førstefødt.

And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on Me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for Him as one mourns for an only child and grieve bitterly for Him as one grieves for a firstborn son.

Den dagen skal det bli en stor sorg i Jerusalem, lik sorgen over Hadad-Rimmon i Megiddons dal.

On that day, the mourning in Jerusalem will be as great as the mourning for Hadad-Rimmon in the plain of Megiddo.

Landet skal sørge, hver slekt for seg, Davids hus slekt for seg og deres kvinner for seg, Natans hus slekt for seg og deres kvinner for seg,

The land will mourn, each family by itself: the family of the house of David by itself, and their wives by themselves; the family of the house of Nathan by itself, and their wives by themselves.

Levis hus slekt for seg og deres kvinner for seg, og sjimeittenes hus slekt for seg og deres kvinner for seg.

The family of the house of Levi by itself, and their wives by themselves; the family of the Shimeites by itself, and their wives by themselves.

Alle de øvrige slektene, hver slekt for seg og deres kvinner for seg.

All the remaining families, each family by itself, and their wives by themselves.
