Og Herrens, hærskarenes Guds ord kom til meg og sa:

The word of the LORD of Hosts came, saying:

Så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud: Jeg er nidkjær for Sion med stor nidkjærhet, og med stor vrede er jeg nidkjær for henne.

This is what the LORD of Hosts says: I am very jealous for Zion, and I am burning with great zeal and anger for her.

Så sier Herren: Jeg vender tilbake til Sion og vil bo i Jerusalem, og Jerusalem skal kalles sannhetens by, og Herrens, hærskarenes Guds fjell skal kalles det hellige fjell.

This is what the LORD says: I have returned to Zion and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. Jerusalem will be called the City of Truth, and the mountain of the LORD of Hosts will be called the Holy Mountain.

Så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud: Enda skal gamle menn og kvinner sitte på Jerusalems torv, hver med sin stav i hånd på grunn av høy alder.

This is what the LORD of Hosts says: Old men and women will again sit in the streets of Jerusalem, each holding a staff in hand because of old age.

Og byens gater skal fylles med gutter og jenter som leker der.

And the streets of the city will be filled with boys and girls playing there.

Så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud: Om dette synes umulig for restene av dette folket i de dagene, skal det også synes umulig for meg? sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud.

This is what the LORD of Hosts says: If this seems incredible to the remnant of this people in those days, will it also seem incredible to me? declares the LORD of Hosts.

Så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud: Se, jeg vil frelse mitt folk fra østens land og fra solens nedgang.

This is what the LORD of Hosts says: Behold, I will rescue my people from the land of the east and the land of the west.

Og jeg vil føre dem tilbake, og de skal bo i Jerusalem. De skal være mitt folk, og jeg vil være deres Gud i sannhet og rettferdighet.

I will bring them back to dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. They will be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and righteousness.

Så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud: La deres hender være sterke, dere som i disse dager hører disse ordene fra profetenes munn, fra den dag da grunnstenen til Herrens, hærskarenes Guds tempel ble lagt, så det kunne bygges igjen.

This is what the LORD of Hosts says: Let your hands be strong, you who in these days hear these words from the mouths of the prophets who were present when the foundation was laid for rebuilding the temple of the LORD of Hosts.

For før disse dagene var det ingen lønn for mennesket, og det var ingen lønn for dyret, og ingen fred for den som gikk ut eller kom inn på grunn av fienden; for jeg lot alle mennesker vende seg mot hverandre.

For before those days, there was no wage for people or animals, and no one could go about safely because of the enemy, for I had turned everyone against their neighbor.

Men nå er det ikke som i tidligere dager overfor resten av dette folket, sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud.

But now I will not treat the remnant of this people as I did in the past, declares the LORD of Hosts.

For frøet av fred vil blomstre, vinstokken skal gi sin frukt, og jorden skal gi sin avling, og himmelen skal gi sin dugg, og jeg vil gi restene av dette folket alt dette til arv.

For the seed of peace will flourish: the vine will yield its fruit, the land will produce its crops, the heavens will give their dew, and I will give these blessings to the remnant of this people.

Og det skal skje at likesom dere var en forbannelse blant folkene, Juda og Israels hus, slik vil jeg frelse dere og dere skal være en velsignelse. Frykt ikke, og la deres hender være sterke.

As you have been a curse among the nations, O house of Judah and house of Israel, so will I save you, and you will become a blessing. Do not be afraid; let your hands be strong.

For så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud: Likesom jeg hadde fastsatt å gjøre ondt mot dere da deres fedre vakte min vrede, sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud, og jeg ikke angret,

For this is what the LORD of Hosts says: Just as I planned to bring disaster upon you when your ancestors angered me, says the LORD of Hosts, and I did not relent,

så har jeg nå igjen vendt meg til å gjøre vel mot Jerusalem og mot Judas hus. Frykt ikke!

so now I have purposed in these days to do good to Jerusalem and the house of Judah. Do not be afraid.

Dette er de tingene dere skal gjøre: Snakk sannhet med hverandre; døm med sannhet og fred ved portene deres.

These are the things you must do: Speak the truth to one another, render true and just judgments in your gates,

Og tenk ikke ondskap mot hverandre i hjertene deres, og elsk ikke falsk ed, for alt dette hater jeg, sier Herren.

Do not plot evil in your hearts against your neighbor, and do not love false oaths, for I hate all these things, declares the LORD.

Og Herrens, hærskarenes Guds ord kom til meg og sa:

The word of the LORD of Hosts came to me, saying:

Så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud: Fasten i den fjerde, femte, syvende og tiende måneden skal bli til fryd og gleder og gode høytider for Judas hus; elsk derfor sannhet og fred.

This is what the LORD of Hosts says: The fasts of the fourth, fifth, seventh, and tenth months will be joyful and glad occasions and pleasant festivals for the house of Judah. Therefore, love truth and peace.

Så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud: Enda skal folkeslag komme hit, og innbyggere fra mange byer.

This is what the LORD of Hosts says: Again, peoples and inhabitants of many cities will come,

Og innbyggerne i én by skal gå til en annen og si: La oss gå for å be om Herrens gunst, og søke Herren, hærskarenes Gud. Jeg vil også gå.

and the inhabitants of one city will go to another, saying, ‘Let us go at once to entreat the favor of the LORD and seek the LORD of Hosts. I myself am going.’

Og mange folk og sterke nasjoner skal komme for å søke Herren, hærskarenes Gud, i Jerusalem, og be om Herrens gunst.

And many peoples and strong nations will come to seek the LORD of Hosts in Jerusalem and to entreat the favor of the LORD.

Så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud: I de dager skal ti mennesker av alle nasjonenes tungemål ta fatt i kappefliken til en jødisk mann og si: La oss få gå med dere, for vi har hørt at Gud er med dere.

This is what the LORD of Hosts says: In those days, ten men from every language and nation will take hold of the robe of a Jewish man and say, ‘Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.’
