Verse 1

De brakte inn Guds ark og satte den midt i teltet som David hadde reist for den. De ofret brennoffer og fredsoffer for Gud.

And they brought in the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it: and they offered burnt-offerings and peace-offerings before God.

Verse 2

Da David var ferdig med å ofre brennofferet og fredsofferet, velsignet han folket i Herrens navn.

And when David had made an end of offering the burnt-offering and the peace-offerings, he blessed the people in the name of Jehovah.

Verse 3

Han ga hver mann og kvinne i Israel et brød, et stykke kjøtt og en rosinkake.

And he dealt to every one of Israel, both man and woman, to every one a loaf of bread, and a portion `of flesh', and a cake of raisins.

Verse 4

Han utpekte noen av levittene til å tjene foran Herrens ark, til å lovprise, takke og prise Herren, Israels Gud.

And he appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the ark of Jehovah, and to celebrate and to thank and praise Jehovah, the God of Israel:

Verse 5

Asaf ble leder, og nest etter ham, Sakarja, Je'iel, Shemiramot, Jehiel, Mattitja, Eliab, Benaja, Obed-Edom og Je'iel med lyrer og harper; Asaf skulle spille høyt på cymbaler.

Asaph the chief, and second to him Zechariah, Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah, and Obed-edom, and Jeiel, with psalteries and with harps; and Asaph with cymbals, sounding aloud;

Verse 6

Benaja og Jahasiel, prestene, skulle blåse i trompeter kontinuerlig foran Guds paktkiste.

and Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests with trumpets continually, before the ark of the covenant of God.

Verse 7

Den dagen begynte David for første gang å gi uttrykk for takksigelse til Herren gjennom Asaf og hans brødre.

Then on that day did David first ordain to give thanks unto Jehovah, by the hand of Asaph and his brethren.

Verse 8

Gi takk til Herren, påkall hans navn! Gjør hans gjerninger kjent blant folkene.

O give thanks unto Jehovah, call upon his name; Make known his doings among the peoples.

Verse 9

Syng for ham, lovsyng ham, fortell om alle hans underverker.

Sing unto him, sing praises unto him; Talk ye of all his marvellous works.

Verse 10

Ross i hans hellige navn! La hjertene glede seg hos dem som søker Herren.

Glory ye in his holy name; Let the heart of them rejoice that seek Jehovah.

Verse 11

Søk Herren og hans kraft, søk alltid hans nærvær.

Seek ye Jehovah and his strength; Seek his face evermore.

Verse 12

Husk hans underverker han har gjort, hans undere og hans munns dommer,

Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, His wonders, and the judgments of his mouth,

Verse 13

du Israels ætt, hans tjener, Jakobs barn, hans utvalgte.

O ye seed of Israel his servant, Ye children of Jacob, his chosen ones.

Verse 14

Han er Herren vår Gud, hans dommer er på hele jorden.

He is Jehovah our God; His judgments are in all the earth.

Verse 15

Husk hans pakt for alltid, det ord han befalte til tusen generasjoner,

Remember his covenant for ever, The word which he commanded to a thousand generations,

Verse 16

pakten han gjorde med Abraham og sin ed til Isak,

`The covenant' which he made with Abraham, And his oath unto Isaac,

Verse 17

som han bekreftet for Jakob som en lov, for Israel som en evig pakt,

And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a statute, To Israel for an everlasting covenant,

Verse 18

da han sa: Til deg vil jeg gi Kanaans land, det lodd av din arv.

Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, The lot of your inheritance;

Verse 19

Da dere var få, ja, bare noen få, og fremmede i landet,

When ye were but a few men in number, Yea, very few, and sojourners in it;

Verse 20

vandret de fra folk til folk, fra det ene riket til det andre.

And they went about from nation to nation, And from one kingdom to another people.

Verse 21

Han tillot ingen å gjøre dem urett; han refset konger for deres skyld,

He suffered no man to do them wrong; Yea, he reproved kings for their sakes,

Verse 22

og sa: Rør ikke mine salvede, gjør ikke mine profeter noe ondt.

`Saying', Touch not mine anointed ones, And do my prophets no harm.

Verse 23

Syng for Herren, hele jorden! Forkynn hans frelse dag etter dag!

Sing unto Jehovah, all the earth; Show forth his salvation from day to day.

Verse 24

Fortell om hans herlighet blant folkene, om hans underverker blant alle folkeslag.

Declare his glory among the nations, His marvellous works among all the peoples.

Verse 25

For stor er Herren og høylovet, fryktet over alle guder.

For great is Jehovah, and greatly to be praised: He also is to be feared above all gods.

Verse 26

For alle folkenes guder er avguder, men Herren har skapt himlene.

For all the gods of the peoples are idols: But Jehovah made the heavens.

Verse 27

Ære og majestet er foran ham, styrke og glede finnes der han er.

Honor and majesty are before him: Strength and gladness are in his place.

Verse 28

Gi Herren ære, alle folkeslekter, gi Herren ære og kraft!

Ascribe unto Jehovah, ye kindreds of the peoples, Ascribe unto Jehovah glory and strength;

Verse 29

Gi Herren den ære hans navn fortjener, bring ofre og kom til hans nærvær, tilbe Herren i hellig drakt.

Ascribe unto Jehovah the glory due unto his name: Bring an offering, and come before him: Worship Jehovah in holy array.

Verse 30

Skjelv for ham, hele jorden! Verden er helfast, den kan ikke rokkes.

Tremble before him, all the earth: The world also is established that it cannot be moved.

Verse 31

La himlene glede seg og jorden juble, og la folkene si: Herren er konge!

Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; And let them say among the nations, Jehovah reigneth.

Verse 32

La havet bruse og alt som fyller det, la marken juble, og alt som er der.

Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; Let the field exult, and all that is therein;

Verse 33

Da skal skogens trær juble for Herrens ansikt, for han kommer for å dømme jorden.

Then shall the trees of the wood sing for joy before Jehovah; For he cometh to judge the earth.

Verse 34

Gi takk til Herren, for han er god, for hans miskunnhet varer evig.

O give thanks unto Jehovah; for he is good; For his lovingkindness `endureth' for ever.

Verse 35

Og si: Frels oss, Gud, vår frelse; samle og utfri oss fra folkene, så vi kan takke ditt hellige navn og juble i din pris.

And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, And gather us together and deliver us from the nations, To give thanks unto thy holy name, And to triumph in thy praise.

Verse 36

Lovet være Herren, Israels Gud, fra evighet til evighet. Da sa alt folket: Amen, og priste Herren.

Blessed be Jehovah, the God of Israel, From everlasting even to everlasting. And all the people said, Amen, and praised Jehovah.

Verse 37

Så lot han Asaf og hans brødre bli der foran Herrens paktkiste for å tjene der kontinuerlig etter de daglige oppgavene.

So he left there, before the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, Asaph and his brethren, to minister before the ark continually, as every day's work required;

Verse 38

Og Obed-Edom med sine brødre, seksogseksti i tallet, og Obed-Edom, Jedutuns sønn, og Hosa til dørvoktere.

and Obed-edom with their brethren, threescore and eight; Obed-edom also the son of Jeduthun and Hosah to be doorkeepers;

Verse 39

Og Sadok, presten, og hans brødre, prestene, var foran Herrens bolig på offerhaugen ved Gibeon.

and Zadok the priest, and his brethren the priests, before the tabernacle of Jehovah in the high place that was at Gibeon,

Verse 40

De skulle ofre brennoffer til Herren på brennofferalteret kontinuerlig morgen og kveld etter det som er skrevet i Herrens lov, som han befalte Israel.

to offer burnt-offerings unto Jehovah upon the altar of burnt-offering continually morning and evening, even according to all that is written in the law of Jehovah, which he commanded unto Israel;

Verse 41

Og med dem, Heman og Jedutun og de andre utvalgte, navngitt, skulle de gi takk til Herren fordi hans miskunnhet varer evig.

and with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest that were chosen, who were mentioned by name, to give thanks to Jehovah, because his lovingkindness `endureth' for ever;

Verse 42

Og med dem Heman og Jedutun med trompeter og cymbaler for dem som skulle spille høyt, og andre instrumenter for Guds sanger, og Jedutuns sønner ved porten.

and with them Heman and Jeduthun `with' trumpets and cymbals for those that should sound aloud, and `with' instruments for the songs of God; and the sons of Jeduthun to be at the gate.

Verse 43

Så dro folket hver til sitt hjem, og David vendte tilbake for å velsigne sitt hus.

And all the people departed every man to his house: and David returned to bless his house.
