David samlet alle fyrstene i Israel, høvdingene for stammene, og kapteinene for kongens tjenesteskifter, og lederne for tusener og hundrer, samt forvalterne over all eiendom og rikdom til kongen og hans sønner, og offiserene, og alle de tapre krigerne, til Jerusalem.

And David assembled all the princes of Israel, the princes of the tribes, and the captains of the companies that served the king by course, and the captains of thousands, and the captains of hundreds, and the rulers over all the substance and possessions of the king and of his sons, with the officers, and the mighty men, even all the mighty men of valor, unto Jerusalem.

Så reiste kong David seg og sa: Hør meg, mine brødre og folk! Jeg hadde i tankene å bygge et hvilested for paktens ark til Herren og som fotkrakk for vår Gud, og jeg hadde gjort forberedelser til byggingen.

Then David the king stood up upon his feet, and said, Hear me, my brethren, and my people: as for me, it was in my heart to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, and for the footstool of our God; and I had made ready for the building.

Men Gud sa til meg: Du skal ikke bygge et hus for mitt navn, for du er en kriger og har utgytt blod.

But God said unto me, Thou shalt not build a house for my name, because thou art a man of war, and hast shed blood.

Sannelig, Herren, Israels Gud, valgte meg fra hele min fars hus til å være konge over Israel for alltid; for han valgte Juda til å være fyrste, og i Judas hus, min fars hus, fant han behag i meg for å gjøre meg til konge over hele Israel.

Howbeit Jehovah, the God of Israel, chose me out of all the house of my father to be king over Israel for ever: for he hath chosen Judah to be prince; and in the house of Judah, the house of my father; and among the sons of my father he took pleasure in me to make me king over all Israel;

Og blant alle mine sønner (for Herren har gitt meg mange sønner) har han valgt Salomo, min sønn, til å sitte på tronen i Herrens kongerike over Israel.

And of all my sons (for Jehovah hath given me many sons), he hath chosen Solomon my son to sit upon the throne of the kingdom of Jehovah over Israel.

Og han sa til meg: Din sønn Salomo skal bygge mitt hus og mine gårdsrom; for jeg har valgt ham til å være min sønn, og jeg vil være hans Far.

And he said unto me, Solomon thy son, he shall build my house and my courts; for I have chosen him to be my son, and I will be his father.

Og jeg vil stadfeste hans kongerike for alltid, hvis han er trofast i å følge mine bud og forskrifter, som i dag.

And I will establish his kingdom for ever, if he be constant to do my commandments and mine ordinances, as at this day.

Så nå, i nærvær av hele Israel, Herrens menighet, og i vår Guds nærvær, overhold og søk ut alle Herrens, deres Guds, bud, så dere kan eie dette gode landet og la det bli en arv til deres barn etter dere for alltid.

Now therefore, in the sight of all Israel, the assembly of Jehovah, and in the audience of our God, observe and seek out all the commandments of Jehovah your God; that ye may possess this good land, and leave it for an inheritance to your children after you for ever.

Og du, Salomo min sønn, kjenn din fars Gud og tjen ham med et helt hjerte og med et villig sinn; for Herren gransker alle hjerter og forstår alle tanker og hensikter. Hvis du søker ham, vil han la seg finne av deg; men hvis du forlater ham, vil han kaste deg bort for alltid.

And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind; for Jehovah searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.

Vær oppmerksom nå; for Herren har valgt deg til å bygge et hus til helligdommen: vær sterk, og fullfør det.

Take heed now; for Jehovah hath chosen thee to build a house for the sanctuary: be strong, and do it.

Så ga David sin sønn Salomo planene for forhallen, for tempelhuset, skattkamrene, de øvre værelser, de indre kamrene, og nådestolen;

Then David gave to Solomon his son the pattern of the porch `of the temple', and of the houses thereof, and of the treasuries thereof, and of the upper rooms thereof, and of the inner chambers thereof, and of the place of the mercy-seat;

og planene for alt han hadde gjennom Ånden, for forgårdene til Herrens hus, og for alle kamrene rundt omkring, for skattkamrene til Guds hus, og for skattkamrene til de helligede ting;

and the pattern of all that he had by the Spirit, for the courts of the house of Jehovah, and for all the chambers round about, for the treasuries of the house of God, and for the treasuries of the dedicated things;

også for oppdragene til prestene og levittene, og for alt arbeidet og tjenesten i Herrens hus, og for alle tjenestens kar i Herrens hus;

also for the courses of the priests and the Levites, and for all the work of the service of the house of Jehovah, and for all the vessels of service in the house of Jehovah;

gull i vekten for gjenstander av gull, for alle typer tjenester; sølv for alle sølvgjenstandene, i vekten for alle typer tjenester;

of gold by weight for the `vessels of' gold, for all vessels of every kind of service; `of silver' for all the vessels of silver by weight, for all vessels of every kind of service;

vekten også for gull lysestaker og lampene deres, av gull, for hver lysestake og lampene der; og for sølvlysestakene, sølv etter vekten for hver lysestake og lampene der, i henhold til bruken av hver lysestake;

by weight also for the candlesticks of gold, and for the lamps thereof, of gold, by weight for every candlestick and for the lamps thereof; and for the candlesticks of silver, `silver' by weight for `every' candlestick and for the lamps thereof, according to the use of every candlestick;

og gull etter vekten for skuebrødsbordene, for hvert bord; og sølv for sølvbordene;

and the gold by weight for the tables of showbread, for every table; and silver for the tables of silver;

og kjøttkrokene, skålene og begerne, av rent gull; og for de gylne bollene på vekten for hver bolle; og for de sølvboller på vekten for hver bolle;

and the flesh-hooks, and the basins, and the cups, of pure gold; and for the golden bowls by weight for every bowl; and for the silver bowls by weight for every bowl;

og for røkelsesalteret, raffinert gull etter vekten; og gull for mønstret av vognen, nemlig kjerubene, som brer ut sine vinger, og dekker paktens ark til Herren.

and for the altar of incense refined gold by weight; and gold for the pattern of the chariot, `even' the cherubim, that spread out `their wings', and covered the ark of the covenant of Jehovah.

Alt dette, sa David, har jeg fått innsikt i skriftlig fra Herrens hånd, selv alle arbeidene i denne planen.

All this, `said David', have I been made to understand in writing from the hand of Jehovah, even all the works of this pattern.

Og David sa til sin sønn Salomo: Vær sterk og frimodig, og fullfør det: frykt ikke, og bli ikke motløs; for Herren Gud, min Gud, er med deg; han vil ikke svikte deg eller forlate deg før alt arbeidet for Herrens hus er ferdig.

And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed; for Jehovah God, even my God, is with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until all the work for the service of the house of Jehovah be finished.

Og se, der er avdelingene til prestene og levittene for all tjenesten i Guds hus; og hos deg skal være alle som villig vil utføre arbeid, med dyktighet, for enhver form for tjeneste: og også høvdingene og hele folket vil stå til din disposisjon.

And, behold, there are the courses of the priests and the Levites, for all the service of the house of God: and there shall be with thee in all manner of work every willing man that hath skill, for any manner of service: also the captains and all the people will be wholly at thy commandment.
